Being in Seoul, I'd almost never know Korea ever had anything but Western medicine- hospitals and pharmacies are abound, and they all seem to practice Western medicine and carry Western pharmaceuticals (yes, some pharmacies have herbs in cupboards labelled in hanja, but I don't see them often).

To what extent do Koreans still believe in their own traditional medicine? Is it becoming a lost science, and if so, how rapidly? Does anyone know of any hyper-nationalist Koreans who see Western medicine as a threat to their culture?

Finally, does anyone have any first-hand, or reliable second-hand, experience with this style of medicine?

There are Chinese medicine dotors everywhere. They are almost as common as every other kind of doctor. I have used them for acupuncture, and that worked wonders.
