|
|
I first saw SF in the "Jeeves and Wooster" series with Hugh Laurie (and later "a little bit of fry and laurie").
I know he...is....an articulate....thing.
And I know he has books.
My question to those who like him/read his books:
Is he/Are they worth my time? Please keep in mind that my time isn't worth very much. |

Hey! You can be both tall and a genius you know....
I'm a big fan of his, and recommend pretty much anything by him. |

I read one of his books-- it was about time travel and Adolph Hitler. I wouldn't say it was outstanding, and I didn't run out and recommend it to any friends, but it was quite readable.
If you like Jeeves and Wooster, you might be better off reading the books it's based on, by P.G. Wodehouse. A little tricky to find in print sometimes, but you should be able to order them. |

If you like Stephen Fry, you could try downloading a tv series called "QI". It's available on torrent. It's a quiz show with Fry as the compere. |

His book on poetry, An Ode Less Travelled, is brilliant! |

Stevie Fry is total genius.
Moab is my Washpot is his auto-biography and very well written it is too.
As mentioned, QI is pretty good and available to download. He did good work on Blackadder. Jeeves and Wooster. Fry and Laurie. Wilde of course. |

I think he is really funny/witty/droll and very entertaining.
But I think to fully appreciate him maybe you need to have been brought up with British style humour - what do others think? |

thanks for the names.
I've seen blackadder (talk about a show full of talent).
Why is "qi" good? I mean, is it another boring quiz show with him as a host? What makes it so good?
moab is my washpot is just a fantastic name |

Ever since seeing him in his doco "The secret lives of the manic depressive", it's hard for me to watch him and not wince.
He's a very dark and morose individual under the exterior a lot of the time.
"Everything that happens is because I am a c***". Creepy. |

Yeah. They were heavy documentaries. It's so weird that all those manic depressives he met, as well as himself, said that they wouldn't take away their disease if they could. I was surprised by that. But they seem to enjoy the manic periods so much.
QI isn't really a quiz show. It stands for 'Quite Interesting'. It's just Stephen Fry and four comedians, usually different ones each week, joking about random interesting stuff. It's a good watch though. |

Not any longer - here's proof! How can you deny the genius of the (very handsome) chap in the middle?

Who's that giant in the middle? Looks a bit like that kid with the swelled face on Grey's Anatomy. |

He's good, very likable, but I don't think I'll ever quite get the sex scenes from Wilde out of my head. Errrrr. Icky. Otherwise a very good movie BTW. |
