I put on 22 pounds my first year in Korea. Going to the gym is a great suggestion, but I just hate the going and coming. I got some software for aerobics (and strength) at home on the computer. It is called yourself!fitness. If it sounds good, do a search. I love it; it keeps me interested and motivated and saves all the time going to and coming from the gym.
I also just joined a diet website. It is anne-collins diet; you can search if interested. I know diet is a bad word, but I have found the motivation really helpful and just the keeping of a daily log of food intake and doing some blogging on it seem to be really helpful. So that's what I'm using now: yourself!fitness and anne-collins. It is good so far, down 6 pounds.

I lost a lot of weight by simply changing my diet. Exercise is over-rated, IMO, and people use it as an excuse to eat junk.

Exercise is not overrated. You can choose to eat junk food in moderation if you exercise. Your options are much more limited if you don't exercise. A combination of diet and exercise is obviously best. Building a little muscle makes a world of difference. A pound of muscle burns 50 calories a day. A pound of fat burns......2.
