What is up with K chicks...

A: Giving you their number....texting for a day or two all sweet and nice, then suddenly never replying EVER again?

and B: Last minute cancellations with flimsy excuses (after having had a GREAT time on a first date)..and having had confirmed the 2nd "meeting" 3 times in the past week. (?)

Anyone else having similar experiences?

I realize any number of reasons are possible here, but it's a recurring theme with me it seems. Get number...text/call...all fine.....then outta' nowhere deadzone.

It isn't "she"....it's "them" and I've been in this TEFL game for about 8 years...I know a leech when I smell one...besides they never hang around long enough to suck any grammar out of me.

But thanks for the thought.

Getting a number in Korea is not a big thing - almost any girl will give you her number. It hasn't got the same meaning as it has with many girls in the west.

Ok, ok. Point taken. I still find it to be odd behavior.

Is there any chance you and I are seeing the same girls? Confused Seriously!! Heheh... but I guess I do the same thing to certain K-girls, so you can call it Karma. Embarassed

And here's your answer:

A) They're not into us.
B) They want free English lessons, where we even pay for the food!

I guess I've been able to spot these types. They're usually very good looking, always have jet black eyes, and don't speak English as well as the nice girls. They usually act into you on the date, speak English, and say something confusing once or twice... or just outright strange. Then they leave, citing an excuse (I have to work, etc.), you do the many text messages, then they don't contact or reply to you for 2 weeks. Then they suddenly call, out of the blue, and say they'd love to meet. If that second meeting actually happens, it might be just a movie and a quickcoffee, then they flee again, and the same cycle continues. They avoid drinking at all costs... if you can actually get them drunk, well... good luck!

I used to live in Daegu, just like yourself, and it is not unusual to get a number and then for nothing much to happen. You've just got to find the right girl, which is the same as it would be in any country in the world. The only difference is that the rules/customs are a bit different.

brento, you're pretty much right on with that analogy of the situation except she got hammered on our first date, and I was ready to whisk her off, and she agreed until my mate blew the deal (it was a doubledate) by being an ass and suddenly my date couldn't leave her freind with my friend....ho hum. I'll try Tiberious's method perhaps or turn into a language leech myself and aim at ugly ones.

Don't try Tiberious's approach. Lose your soul, and you lose yourself. Wait...good things will come.
