I'm wading through a ton of job offers and getting more confused by the minute as to what I really want or more importantly where I want to be.
Do you like where you are and why?
Where to avoid? |

I've only lived in Pusan and Daegu. For myself, I found the air quality in Pusan more agreeable as I used to cough extensively. Also, Pusan has Haeundae Beach, Somyeon, Nampo Dong and Tae Jong Dae.
Temperature wise, Daegu is dire from June to October (sweating buckets). A freshly laundered shirt would be soaked in a single bus ride from my apartment to work.
Both places have friendly people.
I've only visited Seoul, Gwang-Ju and a few other smaller towns whose names escape me now. I'm not if I'd want to live in Seoul but Gwang-Ju was nice. |

| For your first time? I'd opt for something around Seoul. One of the "suburbs" like Bundang or Guri. They're clean(er) than Seoul, lots to do, places to shop, and only a short busride away from Seoul. |

Go for Hyehwa, Gangnam, Apgujeong, Mokdong, Jongno, Hongdae, or Myeongdong, all of which are in Seoul. These places are fantastic if you enjoy having a variety of activities to do. Avoid any offer in Incheon, Daejeon, or Daegu. I can't speak about Busan.
Anyway, this is if you want to enjoy yourself. If you like to sit around and do nothing, then just take whatever job offer comes your way. |

I live in Busan, and I've visited seoul Jeju, gwangju, yeosu, etc...
I would reccomend Busan for if you like city life. The air is clear, lots to do, great beaches. It's smaller than Seoul, but great group of foreigners live here. beach volleyball on the weekends. And they host an internationla film festival here. Just make sure you live on the West side of the city where the good stuff is.
If you like the country I would live in Jejudo. You would be on an island, but its hella beautiful there. The life style is much more relaxed and foreigner friendly. It's a resort island after all.
But Seoul is definatly the cultural hub. Music, art, history, etc... It has everything a big city should. The best night life.
In the end the country isn't that big so it's easy to travel and see everything you want. You can ride a train from Busan to seoul in less than 3 hours.
All depends on your personality I guess. |

If you're a person who likes having fun, listen to the cat. Seoul is the place where you can have a good time whenever you want. The other cities are much more traditional, so if you're more prone to culture shock you're best to avoid them. |

The west side? Wouldn't that be the side away from the beach?
I'm attracted to Busan, esp. since I've spent many years in California coastal cities. I'm surprised to hear the good stuff is away from the beach. |

| Don't expect "great groups of foreigners" in Seoul, but it is the easiest place to make a meaningful connection with Koreans in the country. |

Seoul is also the easiest place in which to make a meaningful connection with Nigerians, Nigerian-Americans, Russian double-agents, and decent burgers, eh. |

| If i could do it all again, I'd pick gyeongju. It's not too far from Busan, but just lovely. |
