Trying to get a good idea of what salary to expect. Either I am getting cheap offers or I only read about a small minority who make more than 2.2 million won per month.
Anyone with a great salary above 2.2 million, I would love to hear where you found that job and how you negotiated for it. |

started at 2.2 at a public school in Korea.
I forgot, add an extra .4 for a part time job.

| 2.4 for each of us, 2 years' experience in China (also, each). (.2 of that is because we're in a rural area, apparently.) but it's our first year in korea. |

| First contract was 2.0 a month. The people talking about 2.5+ and whatnot are typically not referring to just their monthly teaching wage. The ways to make more money in Korea are not visible on a jobs board. |

Actually, some of us make more than 2.5 on our TEACHING wage. Some of us do NOT do privates.
Public school, if you have documentable in-the-classroom experience (even at home) and a teaching certification you can get 2.4 + rural allowance making your BASE salary 2.5 mil for 22 morning classes + 20k per class for extra for afternoon classes. 3+ mil is not uncommon.
A green as grass teacher with only a BA starts at 1.8 mil for the morning classes and then gets the additional 100k for rural allowance making 1.9 + 20k per class for afternoon classes. 5 afternoon classes per week will pump you up to 2.3+ mil for a newbie. |

I work at a public school in a rural area. Unless u have been at the school for more than one year, they cap u at 2.3 - that is with 2 years experience AND a TESOL or teaching certificate. You cannot make more than that. That is with 2 years experience, or 20. Then 100,000 if your school has less than 100 kids. Sure there are those here, but I would say MOST schools don't qualify. So the rural allowance is uncommon itself.
Also, who teaches all 22 hours in the morning each week?? First of all, assuming one starts at 9 am and goes to 12 pm, thats 4 classes with a 10 min break in between - that only allows for a MAX of 20 classes a week. AND, it is VERY unlikely that if the school IS a rural school (has less than 100 students) there would be NO need for all those extra "overtime" classes u speak of.
I think your facts are a little askew. |

What are you talking about Fofazoju?
I received several offers of 2.5 million to teach in public schools with my years of experience in hagwons and my CELTA certificate. 2.5 in Changwon. 2.5 in rural Jeollanamdo. 2.5 in Gyeongsangnamdo.
Granted only 2.3 in Busan. But several communities at 2.5 were available. This is not some recruiter side talk, these positions were advertised at 2.5. The topend where I am now, teaching public middle schools is 2.7 mill and I know someone making that.
