This question is kind of a generic quest for knowledge about the female sex in Korea.

I have not been to Korea yet but am planning to work there in the upcomiing months. I have worked in China for about 1 1/2 years.

So I would like to know about some of the hang ups Korean females have - or do not have in dating / getting involved with foreign men.

In China I had no problem in having girlfriends that were 19 or 20 years old - which is 10 or so years younger than my age.

Do Korean females have any issues with "older" men? Are the ok with dating foreigners? My Chinese girlfriends family was so-so receptive to me. her older sister and brother did not like me. Her 2 younger sisters loved me. never met her parents as they lived in the boonies.

Walking around in China holding hands was never an issue in the city I lived in and where she is a university student. (I was never her teacher by the way.) And we never hid our relationship.

Are Korean females as open as the Chinese girls I have met and dated?

What should I expect?

Yes, we bow down at your manliness, being able to pull a barely-legal chick a decade younger than you...Get a life, dude.

Yes, those kinds of girls (and I emphasize girls), are here in Korea too...actually, they are everywhere. Here you will also enjoy thier maturity level that averages out at about 12 years of age.

*disclaimer- not ALL 20 year old Korean gals have the maturity level of a 12 year-old, but I'm sure the ones who will hook up with the OP do. Oh, and her 16 year old sister will probably have a crush on you while her older sister will see right through you and hate you- just like in China! Smile

Some unecessarily rude responses. I thought it was a very inoffensive OP. Funny to see a poster above whose join date is Oct 25th and yet he accuses - in a totally trollish post - someone of trolling! Ha! Laughing

Is it really THAT offensive a 30 year old guy going with birds who are 20? Is it the 1950s? I liked 20 year old girls when I was 20, I still do at 28, and I will when I'm 70. I don't give a TOSS! Evidently neither does Ramones and good for him.

For the Korean speakers on the board, my view on girls of any nationality is 예쁘면 돼요!

rant:

I realize that sex is all great. I love sex. However, it never ceases to amaze me how many times 'how can I get laid' posts like this end up on daves. Now forgive me for being the naive girl here, but do you guys really think about sex that much that you feel the need to come online and ask for advice every few days about how to get laid... aisssh.

Sorry for the rant... continue on.

Why is he a troll? I agree with Spinoza. His question was fine and nonoffensive.

I think Korean women are more concerned with age in general. You can and will find exceptions to this however. It is refreshing to hear China is not "ageist" or whatever the term is.

Seems like a perfectly fine question to me. Wouldn't any guy (girl) be curious about the women and people in general in a country never visited?

There have been numerous threads about this kind of topic, but if you are new to this forum you might not have seen any, and it's hard to use search for something so commonly referred to as "Korean girls" or anything like that.

Sounds like China is not as uptight about foreigners dating 'their' women?

Here you might be fine, but a lot of foreign guys get the dirty looks, the old stinkeye, just for hanging out with Korean women, not even going so crazy as holding hands, or gasp, kissing in public. In public Koreans often seem to me to be a cold humorless bunch and are not wont to display affection openly, unless you count holding hands and touching among

same-sex friends.

In China I and my steady Gf received lots of dirty looks especially from older women. Some of the local boys got confrontational and would say bad things to her or loud enough for her to hear in Chinese. She would usually not say anything to me until we were away from the them because she knew I would start something with those that said something bad about her.

In one restaurant a half drunkin chinese offered me beer and cigarettes and i refused and he kept asking my gf to translate his questions to me and i told her to say I didn't want to talk to him and then he got vulgar to her.

So i was curious if i should expect the same from Koreans. let's understand that i do understand that the "Good Ol Boy" mentality exists where ever you are.

I'd expect it if I were you, though you might be lucky and pleasantly surprised if no one cares much. The weird thing is though that foreigners do get crap responses from locals anywhere, like you allude to.

It could even be your Japanese wife, for example, in Canada or wherever, and some Asians and locals there will dislike the sight of an 'interracial' couple.

It sucks when locals see the white guy with an Asian girl (or any inter-racial couple -- man, I hate that word 'inter-racial' - like we're different species or something) and make assumptions, and no matter where in the world you go, you still get this racist garbage.

One Canadian-Korean girl I met in Seoul got some bad crap, she told me about. She grew up in Canada, did not speak Korean well, had a white Canadian boyfriend, but she and he had to deal with a bit of garbage regularly. After a year or so of this nonsense happening frequently enough, they were glad to leave and go back to where people knew them and accepted them as just "Jenny and Matt".....

We live in a sick world.
