Israel mulls Abbas request for PLO's Badr Brigade to enter Gaza
By Avi Issacharoff and Amos Harel, Haaretz Correspondents and The Associated Press
Israeli officials on Saturday were deliberating over Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas' request to grant Jordan-based Palestine Liberation Organization troops entry into the Gaza Strip.
Abbas made his request two weeks ago, in hopes of bolstering his loyalist forces, as rival Palestinian factions bolstered their ranks in anticipation of a feared civil war.
Israel has objected in the past to letting members of the Jordan-based Badr Brigade enter Palestinian areas. But with clashes intensifying between Abbas' Fatah Party and forces loyal to the Palestinians' militant Hamas government, Israeli officials said they would consider allowing them in.

[I think Abbas should restrain his FATAH gunmen as long as possible.
He should focus on organizing what forces he has and give the population more time to be angry at Hamas and have his party more popular than Hamas and then he can justify calling elections or calling Hamas's bluff if they threaten violence if an election is to be held.] |

it is sad enough that Israel takes Palastinian land every year but now they incite a civil war......by not recognizing the democratically elected Hamas and trying to legitimize the PLO (ex-lackys of Israel). It is disheartening to see a people a nation like Israel who has been historically persecuted become some of the most diabolical and abusive people in contempory times...............no the story isn't about Palestinian in fighting but rather another design by Israel to get rid of Palestine and its people. Maybe Israel will succeed, where South Africa's Afrikaaners failed, as Gaza bears very little difference from Soweto, except for the daily military attacks, missles and shells fired at Gaza. |
