|
|
Ok I was here 2 years ago and a crap-ass school who didnt pay into the pension. I paid into the healthcare system for 2 years, yet when I mentioned pension, I got "oh we dont have enough full time employees, you need 10" or some BS.
Soooo ok, I was ignorant, didnt do my research. Whatever. They have since been paying into it (I am no longer there).
My question:
Can I go back and ask them to pay into pension for the 2 years I had worked there? Am I not on file SOMEWHERE as not contributing as I had health care? I am aware I would have to do a lumpsum of all that I owe. But I am completely willing to do that especially if it means sticking it to the man!! (the man being my old boss
I tried doing a search but of course, but got like 30 pages - most of which had nothing to do with pension. If someone could send me a link somewhere or something.
OH and I called the pension office. They gave me some number which I called and well....nothing happened. I will get Korean friend to call but was wondering if anyone here had any info.
Thanx! |

You need your old paysheets as evidence that they claimed to have charged you for pension. Take those to the pension office.
If you don't have them, and can't get new ones, you're screwed. |

That requires guts, balls, and motivation. Also, there's a statute of limitations, which I believe is 3 years, but you'd have to ask the pension office. |

They aren't just going to hand it over to you though....you'll probably have to wait until you leave Korea. |

More than likely, you're going to have to make back payments yourself so be prepared to cough up quite a bit of dough. |

The 5 employee rule changed in 1999.
Now ALL E2 visa employees MUST by law be enrolled in pension.
You have 3 years to make a complaint to the pension office about a past employer for not enrolling you. |

I assume you mean about mandatory coverage. It is on the website:
http://www.nps4u.or.kr/eng/enpsk.html?code=./enpsk/a06.html
as well as the actual translated versions of the National Pension Act and copies of the Social Security agreements with other countries.
These are linked of the main English page (bottons on the left).
