That came across harsh. I think it's good that an apology was done. It would have been better if it was a full unreserved apology. Just a sorry I was wrong. Not a sorry I was wrong but I was provoked a bit. That's all Im saying. It doesn't matter if you were provoked. An apology comes across less sincere when there are qualifications, that's all. |

I disagree. I think a brief apology with no explanation would have caused a lot of posters to pile more sh*t on SPINOZA, now and in the future. |

I thought it was a good apology, and while I can see how the explanation might be seen as exculpatory, that isn't to say it wasn't also honest. I don't read everything he's posted, obviously, but SPIN doesn't appear to be a disgusting Jew-hater beyond that one wretched PM. But hey, it's not my or anyone else's assessment or forgiveness that matters, it's entirely up to hack. Will he accept SPIN's apology or not -- I do hope that SPIN is more worried about that... than whatever damage his cyber reputation on this stupid little board may have suffered.
And you can regard hack however the hell you want, you can colour his name however you wish, but he was terribly wronged here. And I was enraged. I got two PMs from posters who read an earlier post of mine here that I've since edited. One of them asked me if I was Jewish, was that why I was getting so out of character and angry over this. No, I'm not. But I have, on some occasions like this one, felt the sting of shame and anger that there weren't any Schindlers in my family.
What Tiberious wrote. Couldn't agree more, personally. I really did need to hear the whole story from SPIN, not just "sorry 'bout that". Again, this is just for us here in the peanut gallery. It's not at our feet that SPIN needs to grovel, it's at hack's. I hope very much that's been going on via the dreaded PM. |

Fair post.
It's interesting how the online personalities of posters, and the ensuing squabbles, can make people forget the serious content matter often discussed even in so roguish a gallery as this.
Between hack being a schmuck and spin having a bad drunk, one can forget why we, especially those of certain nationalities, are so sensitive to the subject--and just how important it is to remain so.
I think the matter should now be left between spinoza(a username that is bitterly ironic now) and hack, I don't see how further commentary is going to inform our opinions and assessments on the matter to any better understanding at this point.

Yeah I wasn't being sarcastic when I said those are words of wisdom. I arrived late for a meeting years ago and said, "Sorry for being late, but I got stuck in traffic." The guy I was meeting dug into me about how worthless my apology was and that I should just say "sorry I'm late" next time. It was a good point.
Similarly, if you are going to say no to someone, don't qualify it. Just say no. Makes things easier. |

| I'm glad there was some kind of 'resolution'. I started the thread because I was not at all happy with the "Let's go on about our business and pretend nothing ever happened" approach. |

here it comes..my long-awaited, sincere apology.
Sorry this is late, butIm sorry. Genuinely sorry. I was sorry about what I did the next day, but didnt apologize immediately because I hoped itd all go away ASAP. I didnt want to prolong it. I cant believe I did what I did! Its definitely one of the most disgusting things Ive ever done.
I say and do horrific things when under the influence. Man, I really gotta resist temptation and avoid Daves after a mammoth session. Im always criticizing people who CLEARLY are posting drunk. I should take my own advice! Be honest (all of us)..how many times have we all (a) started reading Daves after a session and (b) posted something stupid that you totally wouldnt have done straightheaded? How many of us have typed out a lengthy drunk post full of vitriol and then thought hmmbetter not and hit back on the browser? Usually, the I was drunk, gimme a break argument is insufficient. But in my case, whilst it doesnt justify or excuse my behaviour, it does explain it. Drink turns me into a beast. Im not an alcy (I only drink at weekends or special occasions during the week, which isnt often) but when I do drink, I really do drink. Superman III-style, whilst still in control and rational, I just become a different person. Relationships in the past have suffered because of my stupidity with booze (and other things). Itd be an exaggeration to say when straightheaded I dont have a bad word to say about anything - I wouldnt harm a fly, but trust me, the difference between piss-drunk spin and straight spin is big. Im OFTEN NICE when drunk, but if something sets me off, something ridiculous, something regretable, is gonna get said or done or both. I become over-confident, mouthy, argumentative, in the mood for a punch-up. Unfortunately, I do enjoy being in that condition, but really I should get a fookin grip! A coupla months ago, I was working away with some other waygooks. A drunken brall ensued between us because I started a bunch of crap. Next morning I couldnt believe the things Id said and done and was quick to apologize to the offended party. That incident couldve had terrible consequences. Next morning after I PMd Hack, I got the same feeling.the oh Christ, what did I do? I just never learn.
People either accept my apologies on the basis that Im basically a good kid. Some people ignore me forever. Depends on the person and how bad the crime. But what youve all gotta realize is that the guy who sent Hack that PM wasnt the real, the normal, me.
I wanted to take the cheapest, easiest pot-shot at Hack because he posted that he thinks itd be a great idea if dog-eaters all got sick and died. I thought that was pretty horrible, so I responded with something totally sick but it was at the time, in that mental state japery. In full grasp of my senses, its a sick thing to do. Drunk and stupid, its a bit of mindless fun, cheap retaliation, busting someones balls. Does Hack REALLY think all the expats who eat Boshintang ought to get sick and die? I doubt it, I hope not. Do I really think genocide is cool? Of course I dont. Its two guys being dumb as f***.
Which leads me on to
Racism. There is no way in this world that Im a racist. How many times have you seen a comment on Daves that went OMG the Koreans are the most annoying, stupid, xenophobic, racist people on Earth (even though this itself is all of those ajdectives) see most of BWJDs posts on Korea - followed by a protest from me? Quite a lot. Im one of the most pro-Korea, pro-multiculturalist posters, have showed no other signs of belief in racial supremacy, so I aint a racist Im afraid. To qualify as a racist, one must simply hate other races or another race (I dont), believe that race accounts for behaviour or ability (I dont) or believe people of another race are inferior, because of their race (I dont). Im not an anti-semite. Granted I dont accept all the bull Israel gets away with uncritically and Im certainly no fan of supporters of Israel in North America (because theyre a threat to world security not because theyre Jewish), but Im not a Jew-hater. Im proud of my country for being the first to declare war on Nazi Germany. It was just a mindless, stupid, drunk act, under some provocation, which I regret. I apologize to other Jewish posters too. Im an out of order, disgusting arsehole at times and I admit it and apologize sincerely for my actions. |
Thanks Spinoza-that took guts. I don't come on the board much anymore so happened to have your post drawn to my attention by someone still in Korea. I re-read all my posts and realize I was ranting but then you have to be raised in my religion to understand and believe me sometimes even I don't understand. I think it might be in my genes. I could say a thousand things right now but I won't. I'll just say one-I hope everyone has learned something from all of this-I know I have.
If you have been watching American news lately you know Kerry said something silly about a college education vs the army. He lost a lot of points over something that he meant to be a joke. Trying to stand back from what went on between us 1000 metres, I am guessing this is where you were coming from as well.
Apology accepted.
Shalom |

Speaking of anti-semitism, did you all know that the Jews were responsible for 9/11?

Jewwatch. Wow Meegook, I can't believe that you posted that link. Amazing.
You need mental help. I'm not being an arse about that. You need help. |
Why is that? If I posted a link called BaseballWatch, would I need help too?
Why is it no one wants to talk about the Jews? I read about the Jews in the Bible almost everyday. No one says anything about that. We watch Jews' TV programs and movies and read their newspapers everyday, no one says anything about that.
I post a link that archives documents pertaining to the Jews and their history and I need help?
You need help getting over your fear of being labeled anti-semitic. You have Jewphobia. |
Oh, would that it were a joke. |
