No themostat? In an officetel? That does suck--you should find out for sure if there is one somewhere in the building--maybe in a room down the hall--that you can mess with----and then mess with it. Sometimes Koreans aren't so proactive with things like that. Also, if you do find one and it only adjusts the floor, turn it on when you want to take a shower anyway, that worked in several apartments I had over there.

Otherwise: boil water. Bucket baths are kind of nice.

Excellent idea. One valve must be for the floor and the other for hot water. Turn off the one that for the floor when you take a shower. You owe flotsam a beer.

Hot water is for girls.

Man up, gentlemen. Kill what you eat and drink from every available water source.

Actually, showers are for girls. I bathe once a year in a river...and I have to break the ice before jumping in. Clean underwear is for girls, too...heck, I don't even own any. Commando, all the way!

When my wife says I'm being a bit extreme, I say, "Extreme!? I'm Canadian. I come from the true north strong and free! Our women have more hair on their chests than your men!"

90% of Canadians live south of London (England not Ontario)

Then again a bunch of you do live in continental weather patterns so you're forgiven. Just say "I'm continental" instead of "I'm from soooooo far North" in future. It'll confuse people more and make me rest easier at night.

However you're definitely right about the women. The average Albertan, Manitoban, Samsqwatchan, or Quebecois are way more hairy than Croydonian, Mancunian, or Liverpudlian girls.

Go sew another maple leaf on your trap-pack.

It's not 'aboot' or 'oot'...What we say sounds more like "a boat" and "oat".

A maple leaf? Heck, no. I got the picture of the Queen of England sown on the trap of my long johns.

Phonemic representation, if you please.

I tried searching for my controller on the internet and came close but since I don't read Korean it was hard for me to find. I posted a request on the tech forum:

I've had this problem in an Officetel, as well. Sometimes the pipes in the floor can freeze or get cold, although this usually happens in the winter time when the temperature falls below zero, not November. In my case, I found turning the heat up high for about an hour before I showered helped. A lot of Officetels though control it centrally. They wouldn't want you to be too comfortable now.

I saw a sign posted in the elevator displaying their plan for temperatures and what it will be at varying times of the day. Sad If there is no way for me to control the ondol, I'm gonna be flipping a bish somewhere on someone. I hate ondol.
