The textbook i have is a dog. I need a new book for (Korean age) six-year olds with very little English exposure. It is a daily, one-hour class.
Any suggestions? |

You know that. I know that. Tell it to the mommies. As long as I progress thru the book, no one cares what book it is. I usually spend about half of my classtime on the book, half on my own planned acivities.

English Land is pretty good with the (Korean age) 7 year-olds, but it ramps up too quickly for the littler ones, IMHO.
Any others? |

I'll look into the book, but phonics are a drag. I do teach phonics to thm anyway. I'm looking for something to get them going in English. These kids can't use their hands too well yet. |

I use Teddy's Train by Oxford. The book itself is mostly just coloring, but that leaves lots and lots of room for coming up with other (better) ways to teach the language. |

I've heard that this book has the most useful suggestions for teaching very young children in Korea.

smart phonics series. can easily last 40 mins on a couple of pages. there are listening, speaking, drawing, and singing exercises on every page. i've taught kindy all year with it and they love the book, and have actually learned something because of it! |

The Ko teacher teaches from a phonics book. I need something a little more flexibl. I'll look into the Teddy's Train. These kids are barely more than babies. One just had her sixth birthday meaning, what, she just tuned five?
You_bums_suck, the book cover was funny the fist time I saw it posted. I've been teaching children this age and even younger for a year now and I am not intimidated by the challenge. |

Fingerprints is a good book...has a variety of activities...I think you can get a teachers guide too. Something for them two bring home to their mommies every 3-4 weeks or so... |

Fingerprints is a great book. The problem is that I already finished FP2 with a student in the class.
My school is always dumping new students in my classes mid-book.
Great suggestion tho. |

I'm using Magic Time 1 with a group of 5 year olds right now. And my 6-year old class used it last and are now on Super Kids 1. Both books work fine and give me enough flexibility to do other stuff with them. They're a good base to work from.
