Argh....I hate to admit it..but I think you are right, if only because the real strength of Tunnels lies in the last minute finale, and Headlights actually starts like that very finale and just ascends from there.

How about
Bigmouth Strikes Again vs. There Is A Light That Never Goes Out
?
Sparkles
There is a Light, being one of the most purdy pop songs ever, has to kick tail... |
I've a good friend who is one of those freaky devotees of Morrisey we hear so much about. He is firmly of the opinon that "There is a Light" is one of the most transcendant of Smiths/Morrissey pop perfection.
However, he is of course utterly wrong as "Bigmouth" kicks lyrical and riff ar*e in every sense.
"Now I know how Joan of Arc felt
as the flames rose,
to her Roman nose
and her I-pod started to melt"
C'mon they should've never been matched up. |

This is another nail-bitter of a fight. Two very different beasts. The happy rush which is July, July and the sheer beauty of Red Right Ankle.
On any given day, I'd probably give a different answer, but today I'm gonna have to go with Red Right Ankle.
Such a beautiful song. It's strange that you can say a song by the Decemberists is beautiful, considering the fact the singer has such a nasal voice, and sings sea-shanties about gypsies, pirates, prostitutes, legioneers and chimbley sweeps, but it just works.
Now for the next fight, I'd like to see the Go Team take itself on in a steel cage match, with;

"Bottle Rocket"'s funky, but "Ladyflash" was probably the best song of 2004. "Ladyflash" wins.
Next up: BDP's "The Bridge Is Over" vs. MC Shan's "The Bridge". |

The Bridge Is Over, no question.
Continuing with the BDP theme:

"I Used to Love Her" Guns -n- Roses VS. "No Time" The Guess Who
Both of these songwriters had to have been seriously dissed at some point. |

Wouldn't these battles work better if themed?
"Yesterday" by GNR
"Today" by Smashing Pumpkins
"Tomorrow" by Silverchair
Threeways are awesome.
ROBT.
P.S. My vote would actually be for "Tommorow Tommorow" by Elliott Smith... |

That's an interesting idea, Robot. I'd have to side with 'Today'.
Songs with a woman's name as a title:
'Billie Jean' by Michael Jackson
'Jacqueline' by Franz Ferdinand
'Laura' by Scissor Sisters
-Note: If they all suck, then which one sucks the least?-

Note: NHM: two headed boy???? BAH! I say.
KoCF pt1 OR holland 1945...don't be silly.
Another Sufjan:
Come on feel the Illinoise VS The Tallest man the broadest shoulders
Some people would write "Tallest man" off without giving it a second listen...give it another chance.
Also (in the SS vein)
Casimir Polaski Day VS The Predatory Wasps of the Pallisades
When I played my show in amsterdam in august, the girl I met online sung this CP Day with me. It sounded beautiful.
Paul Simon:
Loves me like a Rock VS Gone at last
Ricky Gervais Show podcast:
Season 2 Ep.5 (the diary trip to the B&B) VS Season 3 Ep. 4 (The letter complaining about Karl's 3 minute wonder) |
