We did this a few years ago, but many names and faces have changed. It's just for fun.

It goes like this:

How do you rank yourself as compared to other posters?

Top=Conservative
Bottom=Liberal

So, I start by adding my name:

Nowhere Man

and you decide
Am I more conservative or liberal than Nowhere Man?
Then add your name
above me=more conservative
below me=more liberal

If everyone participates, we get some insight as to the make-up of who we collectively are, which I believe is useful when people talk about the CE forum poitically leaning this way or that way.

For example, if I were Gopher, my political perspective would put me solidly more to the right of Nowhere Man. So, Gopher would put himself here:

Gopher
Nowhere Man

On the other hand, if I were RS Refugee, I might put myself here:

Nowhere Man
RS Refugee

Then, we'd have:

Gopher
Nowhere Man
RS Refugee

Then, you yourself would insert your name above or below the others where you feel you fit best until we finally have "The EslCafe Political Spectrum".

The only rule is you only add yourself. Let each decide for themselves where they lie.

DISCLAIMERS:

1)I'm not positing that I am at the middle of the spectrum.

2) I realize it's more complex than left and right. You may be conservative on one issue and liberal on another, but daily board experience shows that some are more conservative and some more liberal. In other words, it's more of a game than anything more serious. There won't be any kind of zing! at the end to insult anyone.

3) My apologies to Gopher and RS Refugee for using them in the example. If you think I put you in the wrong place, that's up to you, not me, to decide.

That said, let's see where we stand.

Hmmm, trying to establish political leanings on a single scale. Not going to work. You need something like this:

Having been raised by Dutch parents and having a grandmother who helped organize labour unions and political parties....then growing up in Quebec, canuckistan is squarely to the left of center on just about everything.

Thanks for playing.

And mind you, anyone is free to adjust their own position.

For example, I'm not really that familiar with Interested's posts. So I'm free to realign myself above or below him as I see fit.

Huffdaddy,

I totally agree with your grid, but this is just a game. No shooting for perfection here. That said, I've seen your posts and I think it's comfortable to assume you'd be above me (more conservative).

But how about Junior?

Junior,

You've embodied what it's all about. Those empty spaces say something.

Thanks for playing.

I tend toward spiritual communism and am very humble (considering how talented I am...) but I'm conservative with regard to drinking, drugs, sex, etc...

First you would have to put these names on your scale:

Mussolini
Stalin
Hitler
Kim Il Sung
Park Chung Hee
Franco
Tito
Castro
Pol Pot

Just the Moderns

How About some of the old timers:

Attila
Alexander
Ceasar
David
Napolean
Charlemagne
Catherine

Real Perspective

I don't think they fit well on any linear spectrum.
