Any suggestions for a good (well... tolerable) pop song that high school girls will like and the lyrics are slow and simple??

Passport's suggestion of Dido's White Flag appears to have gone well for him in middle school, so that has to be an option. |

my high school students LOVED Octopus's Garden. it's not exactly modern, but they were singing along and having a grand old time.

I said it before on another thread, and will say it again, Dong Bang Shin Gi, HUG. English version. They sing very well in English and all the girls will know the Korean version. They are also young, a great example for other Koreans, to use English to reach an international audience....
You can find it on the Korean karaoke link on my website. Follow the instructions to install the small file of a player and use a mic in the class. Also, chose from hundreds more, as well as book and adult/kids songs.
If you are looking for a fun, English English song, my kids loved "That's the way UH UH I like it UH UH.......sing in three part / groups with harmony....catchy , repetitive.

I recently did a 1 hour lesson on music:
Started with skaterboy: talked about pop songs subjects (love and relationships), asked them what it means that she had her head up in space, talked about sub-cultures in american highschools. Whats the moral of the story etc
Went on to metallicas one, same as above, but they had to guess what the person was going through, what POV, I left out the last line.
Cant remember what hiphop song we did: but a funny conversation ensued about what they wear and rap about....we also came up with Gangsta names for each other. |
