yeah the US womens soccer team is playing Canada Saturday at the World Cup Stadium in Seoul in the finals of the Peace Cup tournament

Should be a good match a both teams are in the top 10 in the FIFA rankings (yeah I know they can be bunk) and a chance to see the post Mia Hamm team in action. Canada has always had a good womens team and they looked good so far in this tournament.

If the weather cooperates, rain is in the forecast it'll be a good time

kickoff is at 1:30P

That explains why the US has made it into the US and Canada hasn't. Confused

Several early round games were held in Changwon, Masan and Gimhae in the southeastern province of Gyeongsangnamdo over the last week.

The Netherlands and Brazil disappointed and indeed Canada impressed.

I didn't see any of the American team as they played further up north, closer to Seoul somewhere, in the other half of the draw.

I'm surprised there hasn't been any threads about it. Who's seen some of the tourney?

why were you dissapointed? Brazil is not known for woman's soccer. I don't think that many women in Brazil play soccer. Maybe they are too busy getting a tan.

PLEASE- no more about soccer stupidity- a nil-nil tie between UpperManchester Willywonkas and the London Sillynannies is NOT worth watching.

IN THE US-A couple people care about the World Cup for a few weeks. Other than that, nobody cares about soccer, at all. That's the way it would be in the rest of the world if they had REAL football.

I saw Canada vs. Korea on TV. That was like watching 14-year-old boys vs. 13-year-old boys. I especially laughed when Sinclair shoved off the k-girl who was clinging to her arm with her elbow and sent her flying to the ground, only to see a free kick awarded to Canada.

If that match was any indication I sure pity the Korean women's team.

I was at the final today, it wasnt a bad match as the US and Canada are 2 of the top womens teams, decent crowd and the weather held making it a pleasant afternoon.

Couple of comments:
1) Again the lack of decent English signage etc was a major problem like in 2002. It was almost impossible to find out where tickets were being sold, you had to go to the far north end of the stadium out near the practice field to find a ticket booth. Then there was no info on which side of the stadium was for which teams fans. Luckily I wound up sitting about 4 rows behind the US bench with some people who came from the states

2) Somebody needs to tell the people in charge of the scoreboards/pa etc that people have first, middle and last names. When Christine Lilly (the last holdover of the Mia Hamm generation) scored they showed her name as "Marie Lilly" using her middle name, they did that with all the players, you could tell they were miffed by this

3) The refereeing was so-so. It looked like a Korean crew, but I think the center referee was European/Korean as they said she was from Sweden and I've seen her on the KBS news. The linesman on the west side was downright awful, missing calls all the time. What was funny (or really bad) was when she made a bad call, we would start riding her and she would glare our way. The wrong thing to do in that kind of match. I'm all for giving women an equal shot at working games but this crew of women were bad

overall not a bad way to spend what turned out to be a nice afternoon
