I think you left America for other than romantic or political reasons.

Wrong.

(that's all I will say on the matter, as I still and most sincerely think it unfair to insult you personally regards your family life as you yourself have presented it here; people's lives are complex and complicated).

Thank you and you are correct. So complicated I wrote an entire book about the experience.

And "civil disobedience" does not cut it. If you think the U.S. govt is rotten to the core, a police state that suppresses the people and orchestrates 9/11-style conspiracies via the Pentagon et al., and will hold no more free and fair elections, then you really need to take steps to overthrow the govt -- that is, if you are the Constitutional patriot you claim to be and if you are sure that your "analysis" is truly correct (and I find if hoplessly flawed, by the way).

Don't wish to 'overthrow the government' just remove from office the treasonous criminals running our government right now. Which is just about all of them. And you might want to remember Jeffersons words:

Every generation needs a new revolution.

And in my opinion, civil disobedience, en mass, will 'cut it.'

And you're fairly big on telling other people what they should do and shouldn't do.

I am not the one who came onto an obscure internet chat board, hoping to convince everyone who read and participated in its chatting, that the sky was falling and that the U.S. was under military dictatorship, etc., etc.

I merely point out that, as an American, if you truly believe this, you need to get off your ass and do something about it.

Otherwise, you're not exactly going to set the world on fire from Dave's ESL Cafe...

Not that I'm not doing anything now, but just what do you suggest people like us do?

That makes two of us.

Oh, really?

Where did I make the megalomaniacal claim to be generating a bona fide civil disobedience campaign? Where have I made other self-inlfated claims like this...

My book is going to dispel that myth for the objective thinkers...

Actually, Meegook, I'm just here to exchange views (when possible, which is rarely), refine my own (which, believe it or not, is quite helpful in seminars and the publishing world), and enjoy the fireworks from time to time.

You and your pal are the two who have set out to light the world on fire from your top-secret, decoder-ring, video game-surrounded PC Bang location... Laughing
