Utilizing Robot's generously posted TV link, I have recently watched all of Battlestar Galactica Season Three.
For now, this is all I will say:
Battlestar Galactica Season Three: Pure Gold With Endless Potential
Lost Season Three: Absolute Crap Going Absolutely Nowhere
Discuss.
--EDIT--
All hail robot!

One, post the tv link
Two, while I haven't seen either, I completely agree. I had no doubt that exactly what you said was going to happen |

| Both have lost their initial appeal. BG was great to start with, lots to keep you interested, but their habit of omitting important plot points and sticking them in the "Previously on Battlestar Galactica" reviews before the show starts is pretty jarring. Now it's just too much...we've skipped YEARS in the story, there was an entire settlement of a colony, an invasion, a year or two of occupation and half the fleet wandering in space... all dealt with in short little asides. Now I just don't care. I hope they all get eaten by cyborgs. |

Dude, they said--it was one year in the colony. Four months with the cylons in charge. Less than a year and a half total. Pay attention, dammit.
And if you think the previously crap on BG is bad, you must not be able to stand all that endless flashback stuff on Lost.
What BG has that Lost does not: plot, plain and simple.
(Does it not annoy you that there are a bunch of people inhabiting a beach on an island with crater-causing explosions, the others, a freaky jungle monster, religious wack-os, kidnapped friends and a rocker hobbit who is a complete putz and every time we see them they are non-chalantly gathering berries and fixing tents as if they were on an Outward Bound expedition...? Now that'll cause loss of appeal.) |

Hey, I said they'd both lost their initial appeal.
You're right Lost is getting tedious with their monotonous flashbacks to character's back stories, especially since all they've been doing lately is rehashing the same material. So Jin was a gangster following orders from his opa in law. WE KNOW!! I'm convinced they killed Echo because there was nothing left to add to his backstory. Lost is wandering around looking for something to pad out the main plot, which they want to stretch out for as long as they can. I agree. They're wearing their premise thin. Battlestar has already done it. |

I know you said both, but here's my thing: I think BG is still going strong and will have no problem maintaining plot developments and garnering interest--Lost is only relying on it's pseudo pretty people and enticing the morons(like Tibby and Brento) who still watch it with hope and idiots(like me) who still watch it in eager anticipation of it's imminent self-immolation. |

Battlestar Galactica has changed its original premise (and then basically changed back) but it still stays fresh. The more answers we get the more interesting it is, and the more characters develop. Plus on the last one it showed Sharon naked and doing the weird Cylon thing.
Lost seems like it has a great idea for some of the characters but isn't sure where to go with the other characters. The flashback thing needs to go, unless they introduce more characters (the Others in flashback?) |

Now you see, they're going to read this and incorporate it within the next three episodes, just you watch. |

I really enjoy BSG, it's quite mind-blowing really! It's remained fresh and there is an incredible anticipation that just keeps going. Many surprises. The tension just keeps building.
Never watched Lost before~ don't think that I ever will. |

Is Battlestar Galactica really that good? That link ROBOT posted is only for season 3, right?
Since I don't have the patience to download 2 full seasons, and my wife will kill me if I order them on DVD from Amazon, I need an alternative.
But, again, is it worth it? Someone give me the BSG hard sell. |

I like both series, but I also like "Deadwood"
PS: I also like your unbiased poll. i.e. "That Island Crap"

Why should you watch BSG?
1. Took the premise of human-killing robots and actually made it interesting. These robots have religion. They are able to create their own reality (latest episode) As season 3 progresses, we've just been learning more and more interesting things about them. Plus, the women look great.
2. Smoking. They make smoking look good. Nothing like watching and listening to them lighting up, taking a drag, and watching that smoke curl around in the air. Damn, I need to find my cigarettes.
3. Great fighting. Unlike those lame ass Star Trek shows, real starship combat happens in most of the episodes.
4. Baltar can be damn funny. There were so many points during Season 1 and 2 where the juxtaposition of Baltar's reality w/ his Cylon girlfriend verbally smashing his nuts while something else is happening around him that make me laugh. |

Looking good, especially the smoking part. I wish more smoking was done on Lost. And, yes, I'm being completely serious.
Tell me more!
PS - Two things: please tell me the Cylons still look like this, and that Starbuck is not, in fact, a girl. |
