Letters of Release (LOR) are becoming obselete as far as immigration is concerned, but it is still advisable to get one from your boss.
What we must do now is go with our current boss to immigration and get an exit order. Basically this shows that your visa has been cancelled and you now have 14 days to leave the country.
They will give you a piece of paper stating this.
As for your LOR it should just read that the period of employment is over and that the boss gives you permission to seek other employment.
The school stamp must be on the letter. It does not matter if it is in Korean or English. But obviously Korean is preferred.
As always Immigration rules are inconsistent but as of Friday, the teacher MUST go with the current boss to Immigration to get this sorted out.

I am wondering IF and when foriegn teachers will be able to own their visas, like they do in Japan?

I don't think the powers that be in Korea would be optomistic about that happening though.............although, it would be proactive and force the shaddy schools and directors to realize that they have no reason treating foreign teachers like crap. If you have happy employees, you have good employees.

What day is it usual for the boss to give me this letter.

If I am to get another job offer - don't I need it to be able to even apply for jobs?

I asked for it yesterday - posted dated till the 23rd and was told I'd get it on the 23rd.

I'm so fed up with it all.
