Hi bus-riders,

I've always used my T-money card to travel on the subway and on any Seoul-based bus, but now I've moved out to Gunpo in Gyeonggido. Some of the long-distance (jwaseok/좌석???) buses out there (such as #3030 or other buses going from Gyeonggido to some point in Seoul) don't accept T-money cards - they seem to require an "eB" card. Also, the local (maeul/마을) buses usually have some scan-pad that has a map of some kind on it (perhaps Gyeonggido?) and it says in Korean to just scan your card. So, am I to understand that for those of us living in Gyeonggido who don't always have change or a chunner and aren't fortunate enough to have a credit card, it's necessary to have three different transit cards? And, if so, where can I buy an "eB" card and a card of the third variety - one of these as yet nameless local-bus transit cards?

Thanks

Hi,

My wife used to live in Gyeonggido, and I did since September, till 2 weeks ago when we moved.

If we walked down to the main road next to the Hyundai oilbanks, we could use the cards on all buses going towards Seoul. However if we caught a small local bus at Soha 2 dong , they wouldn't accept the bus pass, but would accept a Visa pass.
When we caught the small bus, we would pay coins, or use the Visa bus pass.
Gyeonggido is outside Seoul, so the normal pass card does not work.

You should try to get a Visa pass (set-up for only bus use if you want), I can ask my wife what other options are open to you, if you wish?

Cheers,
Ken Smile

I have a UPass card. It works the same as T-Money, same discount, can be recharged at the same places.

By the way, 좌석 just means 'seat'. You might be thinking of 고속 which is 'igh speed' or 'express'.

The Upass and EB card are the same. You can get them at many of the small shops by the bus stops in your town or in Seoul.

Looking at the title I thought for a moment that the new article somebody had created on Upass a few days ago was vandalism.
