But on the other hand you will enjoy your best next two years. Because you can spend that time frantically foaming at the mouth and raving madly about how the Republicans '"stole" the election. A Democractic victory on the other hand will undoubtedly mean electoral fraud.

Here's to a Republican victory!!!

I seriously hope you did not teach English when here. This is yet another idiotic post that attempts to take a crack at my use of language, but just makes you look stupid.

And, no, it's not scare tactics. Have you read nothing on Global Warming? Have you not considered what will happen if we continue to blow up the debt so there is no money to deal with this massive issue? How do we retool to alternative energies with no money?

Have you not considered what happens to religious fanaticism if we continue attacking Middle Eastern nations?

While Bush, et. al, have lied their asses off to basically stage a coup on world politics and econmics, I am speaking truthfully about what I see coming. And I a not the only one. Tell me, how much does it cost to relocate or protect tens of millions of people and entire cities? If we continue wasting our efforts on bullshit lies and bullshit wars, we WILL be too late.

This is a turning point. Don't believe it? Don't give a shit. Stand still. Hope you're not oo close to the beach.

Push Polls via Automated Calling - Republicans at it again.

Quote:
New Telemarketing Ploy Steers Voters on Republican Path

By CHRISTOPHER DREW
Published: November 6, 2006

An automated voice at the other end of the telephone line asks whether you believe that judges who push homosexual marriage and create new rights like abortion and sodomy should be controlled. If your reply is yes, the voice lets you know that the Democratic candidate in the Senate race in Montana, Jon Tester, is not your man.

In Maryland, a similar question-and-answer sequence suggests that only the Republican Senate candidate would keep the words under God in the Pledge of Allegiance. In Tennessee, another paints the Democrat as wanting to give foreign terrorists the same legal rights and privileges as Americans.

Using a telemarketing tactic that is best known for steering consumers to buy products, the organizers of the political telephone calls say they have reached hundreds of thousands of homes in five states over the last several weeks in a push to win votes for Republicans. Democrats say the calls present a distorted picture.

///

But critics say the automated calls are a twist on push polls a campaign tactic that is often criticized as deceptive because it involves calling potential voters under the guise of measuring public opinion, while the real intent is to change opinions with questions that push people in one direction or the other.

The calls have set off a furor in the closing days of a campaign in which control of Congress hinges on a handful of races.

...Some political analysts said the practice could mislead voters and discourage them from taking calls from more objective pollsters.

Andrew Kohut, a longtime pollster and the president of the Pew Research Center in Washington, said the automated calling smells like a push poll, it feels like a push poll, so I guess we have to call it a push poll.

During the automated calls, which last about a minute, the moderator first asks whether the listener is a registered voter or which candidate he favors. Voters receive different sets of questions depending on how they answer. The system then asks a series of yes or no questions about different issues, and each answer guides the system forward.

///

Mr. Cardin, who supports stem cell research, said he was incensed that the issue was reduced to the notion that he voted to allow research to be done on unborn babies, while his opponent, Lt. Gov. Michael S. Steele, opposes any research that destroys human life.

Blog entry regarding illegal calls in NH

Quote:
Earlier I asked, Are desperate GOP operatives once again breaking the law in New Hampshire?

It looks like I have my answer. Based on news reports, national Republicans and the Bass campaign are using automatic dialers and pre-recorded phone messages to smear Paul Hodes and discourage voters from going to the polls.

In New Hampshire it is illegal to send recorded political messages to folks who have signed up for the national Do Not Call List. Each violation carries a maximum penalty of $5,000.

The national Republicans claim they do not have to respect New Hampshires law and will continue placing the harassing phone calls. So much for the party that constantly harps about law and order.

The contempt national Republicans are displaying toward New Hampshire is breathtaking. This is reminiscent of when GOP operatives jammed the phone lines of senior citzens in 2002.

The Bass campaign claims they are not responsible for the phone calls and can not tell the national party to stop. This raises the question, If Charlie Bass cant control his party while in New Hampshire, how will he ever stand up to the GOP bosses in Washington? Bass failure to stand up and be an independent voice for New Hampshire has lead to his decline in the polls.

Yesterday I saw a homemade poster of a fish (Bass) lying passively under a bush(W). It pretty much said it all.

The Concord Monitor carried a story about the illegal, harassing phone calls at http://www.concordmonitor.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID =/20061105/REPOSITORY/611050397

What amazes me... I'm not running across any allegations of illegal activity by Dems... none so far. Where are they, if all this illegal activity is so bipartisan?

And why don't we standardize voting procedures?

I think this would be a mistake, in terms of voting procedures.

One of the glories of a federal system is that it allows for local variations in many things. Someone said that the states act as living experiments in the varieties of laws they have. I think that's a good thing. Maryland recently experimented with electronic voting and had a disaster. Better that it happen at the state level than the national.

I think it's good to have 50 testing grounds for programs and laws. The other states can look at and learn from the successes and failures of others' experiments. [/quote]

Maybe it's because of how wary Republicans are of seizing on perceived faults from the other side. Assume good faith, that's their motto.

the GOP wrote:
Our enemies are not demons,
but human beings like ourselves.
We don't wish them personal harm.
Nor do we rejoice in victory.

Those Dirty Republicans
By: Jamie Holly @ 10:43 AM - PST
Seems like the Republicans still love their dirty tricks. From Matt Stoller:

Terry Nelson, an unindicted co-conspirator in the TRMPAC Tom Delay scandal, and the boss of Jim Tobin, the convicted felon in the NH phone-jamming case, is the head of opposition research for the Republican Congressional Campaign Committee. So it's not a surprise that these kinds of unethical dishonest tactics are being used.

Sources in Bergen County are reporting that an autodial robocall is being made that starts out sounding like a positive Bob Menendez message. If you hang up, it repeatedly calls you back. If you listen all the way to the end, it finishes by saying that Menendez is an embezzler and under criminal investigation.

This is a voter suppression tactic being used nationwide by the GOP. Initially callers will think they are hearing a call from the Menendez campaign asking for support. If they hang up, it will repeatedly call them back. The intention is to annoy the voter so much that they no longer support the candidate. For those who actually listen to the entire call, they are presented with a series of lies and smears against Menendez, also with the intention of suppressing turnout. It's a win-win tactic for them.

The NRCC is doing the same exact thing in Pennsylvania, New Hampshire and at least 53 other races across the country.

Terry Nelson is a key GOP operative, a senior advisor to John McCain and someone heavily involved with both Tom Delay and Karl Rove. This guy breaks the law and gets rewarded for it.

The robocall scam is starting to get some national attention. CNN just reported about it on the Situation Room:

Video - WMV Video - QT

Talking Points Memo was highlighted in the segment, which Josh does deserve the credit on this, as he has been working none stop to bring this scandal to the national level.

Second GOP Firm Tied to Harrassing Robo Calls

By Justin Rood - November 6, 2006, 6:24 PM

Earlier today, Paul connected harrassing "false-flag" robo calls in a number of congressional districts to the National Republican Congressional Committee, via the firm they appear to have paid to carry out the calls. That firm, Conquest Communications Group, was responsible for NRCC-backed calls in 20 House races.

Now, Paul has found a second firm calling voters in another 10 House districts on behalf of the NRCC. Some of those calls have been similar to the harrassing "false-flag" robocalls we've been covering all day.

"I know these guys," White House political guru Karl Rove boasts on the Web site of Feather, Larson & Syndhorst DCI, which has been making robocalls to voters on behalf of the NRCC -- many of them confirmed to be harrassing. "They work as hard to win your races as you do."

Indeed, the firm is said to enjoy close ties to Rove and the Bush White House. They've been in the annoying phone call business for a long time, as Josh will attest. This time around, they have made harrassing phone calls to defeat Democrats Harry Mitchell (in AZ-05), Eric Massa (in NY-29) and Francine Busby (in CA-50).

"They start out sounding like they're from Francine Busby -- most people get so annoyed they don't listen to the end. . . some people have been called 6, 7, 8 or 9 times," said a staffer at Busby's campaign.
