I don't think it's right to hit a woman, but that woman makes me consider making an exception.

From John Dean's "Conservatives Without Conscience": (p. 24)

Right-wing talk radio could not survive without its endless bloviating about the horrors of liberalism. Trashing liberals is nothing short of a cottage industry for conservative authors. Take the "queen of mean," Ann Coulter, whose titles speak for themselves: Slander...for example, contains page after page of scorn, criticisms, belittlement, and bemoaning of ideas she believes liberal. Her books have also generated a subsidiary cottage trade in fact-checking her work, which has amply demonstrated that Coulter apparently considers accuracy as something that needs only to be approximated.

While Canada did not participate in the Vietnam War, 30,000 Canadians did serve in the US Armed Forces during the Vietnam War era, with about 12,000 of them actually deploying to Vietnam.

Wikipedia has 110 Canadians listed as KIA and 7 MIA.

Perhaps this is the reason for her confusion.

So she was wrong about whether or not Canada sent troops to Vietnam. Big deal? I don't see how that detracted at all from the point she was trying to make, which was that Canada has historically been an ally of the US but recently doesn't seem to be. I don't agree with that opinion of hers, but that guy making a big issue about the Vietnam thing was a cheap shot.

The Iraq invasion is similar to the Vietnam War, in that there have been Canadian troops sent there a variety of ways. A lot of them are in cooperation programs (I don't know what they're called but a friend of mine served with a Canadian over there). It doesn't mean the Canadian government officially supports the war or is even really sending troops there. I'd say the amount of support is probably close to what it was for the Vietnam War, public denouncement but still some handjobs under the table.

Gee, really? I would have sworn that Canadian soldiers were in Afghanistan.
