Hey guys~!

I have an interview with CNU language center this Friday. I had been checking out the old threads & was wondering, what is the current situation there?

From the looks of it, the pay is better and hours have come down a bit.... what's the scoop?

Ha, you got an interview and I didn't. Good luck. At least I got another job, so it doesn't matter.

You will live very near me, Stephannie, if you get the job. Can't be a bad thing????

LOL.

When a friend worked there, he hated every minute of it - but he is not a money hungry person, so to speak, so he didn't like all the overtime they were forced to do. He wanted time alone to do his church ministry thingy. The pay wasn't bad but the schedule was (some people were working 7am-7pm, with breaks in between).

I think, from what I heard, as far as national universities go, this is an OK one.

Chungnam National is in Yusong (the northwestern part of Taejon). If you go to the main gate, you will be looking south at the hotel section. Some nice restaurants and lots of ladies for hire. If you back up about 100 yards and take a left, you will go out the side gate into Koong-dong, the student-priced restaurant/bar section. It's a hoot. Just watch where you put your feet--students make lots of 'pizzas in the street'.

Go down a block from the gate (along the elementary school playground) to the T-intersection and turn right (if you go left you'll run into the fire station and a small mountain...boring). Go one block (very short block) to another T intersection. Nothing special to the right. To the left is the main drag of Koong-dong. About 100 meters up the street on the left is a dak-galbi restaurant. Mrs. Yoo, the owner, will let you eat there without ordering for 2 or 3 people. She has a son in LA and 'understands' way-gookins. Good food. Another couple of small cross streets up the main drag and to the right is Ga-chi Restaurants...a great place for joo-moo-lahk. Another street over is a great place (in the basement) for dong-dong joo and pah-jahn. Back on the main drag, down at the far end of the street (T intersection) is Santa Claus, in the basement. There used to be a Lotteria upstairs, but someone said that is gone. Anyway, Mr. Ho at Santa Claus has an amazing collection of old LPs. Take a short right at the corner and then a quick left and you'll be at Han Bit, with a grocery store in the basement. The only place I've ever seen with ouzo. Very Happy

If you keep going past Han Bit a little ways, you'll end up at the fence around Korea's 'MIT', called KAIST.

Oh, about the job? I have no idea. I just know the guy in charge 10 years ago was a jerk.
