Most people do. It's sad that the concept of a person making joke posts almost exclusively has been lost on the lot over here. Three years ago, it's just about all you ever saw. Now we're all outcasts subjugated to the darkest depths of the FAQ forum. It's like ESLCafe collectively forgot how to laugh or something.

......this sucks.

That was so funny Z.

Oh yeah is the hangin' gonna be on pay per view? If it is yah wanna club together some cash and spring for the event? I think we could get Brother Buddy and some other undesirable scum to drink, be merry, and cheer Saddam on.

I am betting he pisses himself half way up the stairs.

Betting pool anyone????

I did. But sarcasm can not and should not be used on a forum without an emoticon or very blatant sarcasm. I studied this in university, and the internet is one of the worse places to actually ever say anything, as it will most likely not be taken the way you want, no matter what it is. Add with all the f**kheads on this board who do say stupid things like that actually meaning it, bam, misunderstanding...

Dear me I wasn't ever aware that one needed an emoticon to signify sarcasm. I would hate to see anyone being put out of shape or anything of that nature.

It is very easy to not get sarcasm from a post on the internet. This goes with most humour too. I missed it there, though when pointed out to me, I saw it.

Let me say this again...

So, there are numerous countries that still subjegate their women unto this day. Capital punishment is for barbarians and their like. You can't even be sure you aren't murdering someone (if they are innocent, and enough people have been let out of jail nowadays to make that fear even worse).

I am so down for a betting pool on this ass clown's hanging. Right or wrong isn't my concern. I couldn't give a rip if they stuffed a fire hose up his arsehole and let it rip at full blast. Old Saddam is a piece of certified horse crap. One way or the other he deserves justice for the crimes he commited, and it is the decision of the Iraqi people to hang him.

Mind you this is ignoring the Kangaroo court trial he recieved.

And the obvious statement it sends to world dictators.

Personally, if I was the soldier who captured Hussien I would have settled it all. Would have been one of those accidents. Oppss.. crap.. tripped and dropped a damn gernade down the cu.nts foxhole. Then again given number of times people shouldn't have been taken alive, and it happened it is just another thing you have to live with.

I think they are making a huge mistake. I say put him on display in the Baghad Zoo. Let the kiddies throw trash at him. Make him an object of ridicule and scorn.

But they are going to hang him instead.

So that being said...

I say he wets himself halfway up the steps. The man is a common thug and a scum bag. I doubt he will have the dignity to walk like a man to his own hanging. They will prolly have to drag him kicking and crying the whole way.

I'm not generally in favor of the death penalty for the simple reason that I dislike the idea of innocent men (and in extremely rare cases, women) hanging on the end of a rope, frying in the chair, or what ever.

That said, occasionally - very occasionally - death is the kindest and the cheapest and the most obvious thing to do.

This is the strange thing about the capital punishment argument: death is not a punishment. You might think that by not allowing someone to wake up the next day is retribution, but actually it's a very liberal consequence. Death = not suffering.

Capital punishment - when it's beyond doubt that the victim is (a) truly disgusting and (b) clearly, irrefutably guilty - is justified in my view. It's all about (a) quick fix punishment and (b) cost-effectiveness. Who on earth in their right mind would argue that there are more worthier beneficiaries of money than keeping Saddam alive? Even assuming Saddam lasts 10 more years in a high security prison, have you any idea how much that costs?

Well, you know. The laughs started getting nastier and nastier, and eventually lead to nasty people doing nasty things because it amused them. Now anyone who uses these expat boards have to remain either walking on eggshells or in a defensive stance because you never know when your family or ex-girlfriend is going to get a phone call in the middle of the night.
