on individual experiences of Koreans during the Korean War. not sure if such a book exists, but i'd really like to read people's individual testimonials/stories about what happened to them -- civilians, soldiers, whatever.

does anyone have any recommendations?

One book on American marines' experiences is Breakout by Martin Russ. It's an oral history of the retreat from the Chosun Reservoir. Russ is an ex-marine and his writing reflects a lot of his affection for the Corps, but overall it paints a realistic portrait of the event in the words of those who were there.

Their War for Korea: American, Asian, and European Combatants and Civilians, 1945-1953 by Allan R. Millett is probably the best at sheer number and variety of testimonials. Nearly every group is covered, even Thai soldiers.
