There was a real mess getting my internet banking set up with banking.nonghyup.com
It seems it wants you to download and intallation program and make some kind of access key.
My computer wouldn't do it even after I switched from Firefox to IE. Art teacher who doesn't speak English wanted to remove service pack 2.
The English teacher insisted on me going through the process on her computer. It was supposed to put something on a floppy.
We have this thing on a floppy and now Art teacher talks to English teacher and then he removes service pack 2. That gets rid of IE. We aren't communicating and English teacher returns. English teacher says that art teacher says it is a problem with Firefox and that I have to use IE, I think. She speaks English but not computer. The reinstall service pack 2 and then they say there is nothing on the floppy so now we have to go through everything again only everything is in Korean.
1. Did Firefox change a DLL or something else that required service pack 2 to be reinstalled? I have both now but the IE icon creates a copy of the IE icon on the desktop and you can only start it through the start menu.
2. Can I just copy the certificate to my laptop or do I go through the same thing at home? They told me Nov. 7 was the last day I could set it up. Do I need to get a new date for my laptop?
3. Can I use Firefox to access this bank? Can I use Firefox in Linux to access the bank.
Thanks. -Jeff |

A lot of Koreans don't like SP2 due to incompatibility with alot of their crappy web site coding and directx controls requiring IE.
I recommend that you give up on internet banking or else suck it up and live with XP pre SP2 and all the insecurities that will result in. |

They reinstalled SP2 to get IE back so now I have IE on the work computer and it works with the bank. -Jeff |

I signed up for Nonghyup and tried to sign up. Firefox didn't work, so I switched to IE as I was expecting I'd have to.
It asked me if I wanted to install some ActiveX control and I said yes. It then proceeded to download a firewall and some other crap software. I deleted them imediately (or rather tried, it took about 20 minutes to get them deleted). I tried to sign up again without downloading the crap and it wouldn't let me.
I then proceeded to cut that little "code card" that they give you into about 100 pieces, shoved them into an envelope and walked back to the bank. I told them "No thanks." and dumped the pieces onto the counter with a note in Korean saying that the software sucked and I woul never use it.
Oh well, I guess I'll just have to keep walking to the bank to do anything I need done.

I use Korean internet banking (KB) on two XP SP2 computers. My fav. browser is firefox, but to access the banking I need to use IE. (I have IE7.) In my experience Firefox is unable to download the extensions needed to use Korean Internet banking.
No need to make any changes to your Operating System |
