Trivial Hardship 1) I often make this very same typo (why?), post my message, spot the bloody thing, and then frantically re-edit my post before some other smartarse can get there before me and smugly point it out. I have made many smug enemies on these forums so it's of utmost importance to act fast! 
Trivial Hardship 2) My thoughts are currently being interupted by the image of a certain poster cheerfully and unabashedly swinging his what!? Aaaaaaaaaaaaah!

My current (sort of) Trivial Hardship:
This wine I'm drinking is tasting off. Not vinegary, but ever-so-slightly fungal and rotted-corky. Rotted-corky, brutha.
So what's my trivial hardship? It's that I don't know what I should do. Keep drinking it and pretend that gutbomb I just got had nothing to do with the wine? Or should I pour it down the drain right away and start on something nice? I would dump it were it more evidently gone-bad, but that's the problem -- it's right at the cusp. *takes another sip* Okay, that fungal taste is still there, but I'm starting to care about it less.

If I don't get any more gutbombs, we'll finish this bottle but I don't think I'll buy it again. Gullfiend says it's okay and I'm crazy. I'm not a wine snob, but I do insist that a wine not cause people gutbombs. It's one of those wines where you can't tell if the peculiar taste is intentional (and safe) or was a mishap in handling & storage. I'd say it serves me right for buying Third World produce. |

Trivial burdens I have born today:
1. For some bizarre reason, the hallway to my deluxe officetel has become a raging windtunnel. The furious sound is almost frightening, it howls so loud. Above that, it's annoying!
2. The speaker on the ceiling way up here beyond the reach of my screwdriver interrupted my late sleep this morning with 30-45 minutes of sporadic one-second siren blares. It would start with the rising tone of BEEEEEEEOOOO, and stop. It was maddening, I tell you. I kept falling back asleep for 3 minutes, or 5 minutes, or 10 seconds at a time, depending on the random interval of peace was afforded me.
I dreamed that I had stacked my dinner table on top of my desk, and then a chair on the table in order to reach the speaker and disconnect it. When I woke up to find it still intact, I was truly miffed. |

I just discovered, via YouTube, that the video for Radiohead's 'Fake Plastic Trees' is awful beyond words. What did such a sublime song ever do to deserve such an abject video?
(Same goes for 'Karma Police.') |

1) I bought unsalted cashews by mistake. I tried adding salt, but it won't stick.
2) My apartment is on the top floor of a building with a church in the basement, so the requisite giant electric cross is right on top of my roof. The church people decided that early this morning was a good time to do repairs on the cross. Not only that, but the cross is still broken, and they seem to have torn the screen most of the way off my window in the process. |

The batttery on my iPod mini can't seem to decide how much power is in it.
Sometimes it dies at half life. But then I just wait a few seconds, hit play, and it comes back again.
Sometimes it takes several hours to recharge, sometimes just one.
Sometimes it even starts with low battery power, AND INCREASES AS I PLAY IT!  |

My curtain rack already had a problem so I had to pull real hard to get the curtains to close. Come home drunk on Sunday morning (when I could really use some darkness), pull the curtain and the rack comes dislodged from the ceiling.
Now I cant screw it back up because the holes are too big.
Woe is me! |

Ya-ta Boy, I have the same problem in my bedroom. My fluorescent ring-shaped bulbs blew out, so I manfully bought replacements, eased the gigantic cover off, and installed them. Only one of the rings now work, and I can't get the damn cover on again.
However, I beseech you not to eat another chip until you have tried opening those jars with some Kermo-patented help. Heat makes most matter expand, and as this happens, the space between metal lid and glass jar expands a little too. Perhaps you've tried running the jar under hot water. Have you tried using your gas-range? Gently heat it a little, then throw a tea-towel (or even better, a rubber glove) over the lid and mightily strain at it. You should hear a gentle pop and smell the tangy salsa in no time. |
