In my case I'm a grad student who only teaches for three hours a week, but I'm also obsessive and socially inept.

How did Sovietman manage to find out exactly how much each person posted? Is there a list with a ranking of them, or did Soviet Man go and do a manual count of everyone?

You can just count the posts from the post history. Look at the date and count. Wow. That must have taken him some time, eh? I wish I had that same sense of commitment. (I am so going to win.)

Mod sock, maybe? Mods can probably run queries like that, I figure.

Really - if someone is posting 10, 20 or even 30+ times a day (every single day) it has become an unhealthy obsession (perhaps even showing signs of being sociopathic) - as daves has become a very major part of their daily life.

Public school, inbetween two towns in the middle of nowhere, with only teaching (currently) 15 - 40 minute classes a day. I study Chinese and Korean, but can only do that for so long. Then I come here.

And posts means nothing. Someone who wrote 30 one to two sentence replies inbetween classes has nothing on someone who wrote 10 massive story book posts. Anyway, Sovietman isn't really known for being that normal, is he?

I have just been here 6 weeks, and this is another new Korean law that I hadn't heard off! Laughing

Some people are are like coiled spring's, ready to go "off on one" when a post triggers. It can be an un-friendly board for newbies.

It is also a fantastic place for newbies to get information. There is so much, often posts are made before the newbie knows what exactly is on here.
BUT, There are also SO MANY NICE & HELPFUL PEOPLE HERE. They really make it a pleasure to post with, and hopefully these posts will help other newbies too.

Smile and it's very likely they will smile too!

Peace and Love to all,
Ken

There are some here that treat Dave's like their very own chat room. And I define chat as talking to the same 5-10 posters over and over again in every thread in little one line try-hard-to-be-witty posts that may or not make sense to the masses and/or in English. What's really sad is when they start talking to their own sock to try and throw others off. Whatever. It's a democracy until the mods get involved.

But do I wish that some people left this "discussion" board and found new life in Yahoo Messenger? Sure, I do.

That's what the current events area is for. To keep the major wackos away. I hate the people who never post anything which can help someone.

Where the heck is Meegook? 803 posts in 26 days. I've only got 1200 posts in just under a year.

And still manage to post! Only 20 cups of coffee a day can keep me going. You should all damn well thank me for taking the obviously limited time out of my day to do so Smile

Good God Yes!!! I say we start a "Dave's Survivor" thread, where we kick those posters off the island. (btw, what actually happens when people get kicked off the island? does a studio helicopter pick them up, or are they forced to walk the plank in shark-infested waters?)

Back to my really good thread idea, inspired by Hapki's really good post, of doing away with the try-hard-to-be-witty posters who are clogging up the board. Here they are, with no surprises:

Flotsam,
Qinella,
Tiberious,
Gang Ah Jee....

That's not all of them, but it definitely nails the main culprits to the wall. Like dead insects pinned to a card at the Bug Museum.

I'm a nostalgist, here's what I want. I want Sparkxx (sp?) back here, ASAP, in any disguise he wants. And I want Osangrl to return to Korea and start ripping strips off of people again. I want Satori to go back to kiwiboy99 (sp?), and of course Grotto and Gord have to reprise every one of their bloody and entertaining battles. I'd really like it if Dogbert and BlindWillie/WilliamG resurrected their conservative-vs.-liberal biatch-slapping fests. (though one can see glimpses of that on another site, but it's not nearly as funny) I want SwissJames back, I want him chucked from his current job and froggy-marched back to Hell (Incheon). And I want to see the return of the 'been-here-years' crotchety white gals (whose names decency and Alzheimer's prevent me from mentioning). And of course, I'd love to see Shawner88 rise from the grave, return to Korea, and continue blogging from here. That way he wouldn't be dead now.

(Dear Lord, please make it like 2004 again.)

My favourite K-pop star:

Nostalgia, brutha!
