Do I have to have a bank account in my own name to receive salary payments, or can I have them deposited into my wife's account?

(We both have cards for her account, or should she change her account to a joint account?)

Thanks,
Ken

It may depend on where you work and what they require. When I worked at a hagwon they just deposited my money into my wife's account. For my more recent public school job I had to open a new account in my name.

This would be the point where your brain should be saying

Danger Will Robinson! Danger!

This is dodgy, they are trying to cheat tax and they are definetly cheating you. Not good, don't work for these people.

Do a search on here about this scam!

Um, why? He simply wants his pay deposited into his wife's account. Unless of course I'm reading that incorrectly. I don't see anything dangerous about this. Unless of course his wife decides to run off!

To the OP, I don't see a problem with it. It's just a bank transfer. I can't see why they'd want you to open up your own account just for this unless they want it at the same bank to save on the transfer fees.
