Wow! I didn't even know this card was coming. I won't buy one (600USD!!) but it will lead to a series of great cards at lower prices. What can ATI do?

| Although I'm sure ATI would still like to have it's share of the enthusiast market, I think that being bought by AMD will have surprises alterations in the roadmap. I think they will be going for a more mainstream approach; think on-die (discreet) graphics solutions. |

that is a beautiful card. However, there is no way I'll be trading in my 7900GTX anytime soon. As a matter of fact, if any of you can find me a second one, I may pick it up. HEHEHEHE>
BFG 512 OC. It's a hard one to find below $500. I got lucky when I only paid $400 for mine. SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH....the wife doesn't know how much the card was. |

| That card is a monster! Can you imagine having two of them in SLI? The heat and power usage would be huge! Roll on Vista and DX 10. |

If anyone wants to buy my 7900GTX for $300, let me know! |

I love my games as much as anyone...but $600 bucks!
Buy a 360 or PS3 (soon) for the same price, great games, and no expensive CPU/RAM/ etc. to buy on top of everything!
I think I'm sticking with my run of the mill computer and going console with a big screen hdtv...its getting to the point that this is a cheaper alternative. Just use the computer to make "backups" of my games.
Who's with me? |

You won't need a heater in your room if you have two of these bastards in your rig. It'll move enough hot air to keep you toasty in even the coldest Korean winter day.
To be honest, I'm also leaning towards a nice HDTV and 360 setup. No killer game to bring my gaming back to the PC on the horizon at the moment. Besides maybe ETQW, but it'll only be good if there's a sizeable community behind it, which seems unlikely considering the saturation of multiplayer FPS' nowdays.
It kinda sucks.

The clockspeed is actually lower than the 7900 series. Probably produces less heat overall.
Unlike many graphics card releases, this one isn't just the previous version on steroids. This is a very new beast.
Among the changes:
~ DX10 support
~ 128 pixel pipes!
~ 681 million transistors!!
~ 86.4 GB/s (up from 51.2 GB/s)
This card is just wicked. A full host of new features and very tomorrow-ready. A great card to look at in 8 months time when the price comes down to earth. |

Not quite 'all got recalled'.

Some GeForce 8800 GTX boards that were built through our contract manufacturer had a simple BOM error - wrong resistor value. GeForce 8800 GTS boards are not effected by this. These GeForce 8800 GTX boards were shipped to our Add-In-Card partners. We have been working with them to pull these back and change the resistor to the correct value. We believe we will still be able to hit our hard launch this week (Nov 8th) with the new GeForce 8800 GTX boards. This is a testament to our execution as well as the execution of our Add-In-Card partners. Adam Foat, Product PR Manger, Northern Europe.
