And the Senate too!

Democrats wrested control of the Senate from Republicans Wednesday with an upset victory in Virginia, giving the party complete domination of Capitol Hill for the first time since 1994.

As I understand it, Allen did not concede, and it is very close, but it does appear that Webb won the race. We do know that Donald Rumsfeld has resigned. The GOP under the leadership of Hastert, Bush, and Cheney has been trounced, basically. The people are extremely angry. Bush is extending an olive branch that he did not extend in 2000 after he did not win the popular vote. He hasn't proven conciliatory in his years in office. He asks for something from the democrats that he did not show to them.

Well, lets be honest here.

Once the Dems gain power, they'll be every bit as ruthlessly cut-throat as the Republicans. And they WILL NOT ditch the dictator-like powers the Republicans have handed their president. Phones will still be tapped, citizens will simply disappear when seens as an enemy of the state, the national guard will still remain the president's private police force, and martial law can be declared on a whim.

As well, pulling out of Iraq hands the nation over to Iran, but staying just sends more soldiers to do little more than fill body bags.

The Dems have gained a lot of power as well as a clusterfuck of a situation, and since a politician is a politician, things aren't going to be fixed up any time soon.

Make no mistake. From this point forward, every bad thing that happens to the U.S. will and MUST be blamed on the Democrats. And I do mean everything.

The Repubs got a bitter dose of their own medicine. Now its time to play the whiner and biatcher. Rush Limbaugh is going to make another mint, just like he did when Bubba was Prez.

My hat's off to you, Dems, but I'm watching realllllllly closely. Should be fun!

No, in other words, if you hated the Republicans, you haven't seen anything yet. All of you (not necessarily you Kuros) who spent hundreds or thousands of hours digging up crap about Republicans (some of it warranted and accurate) are about to find the shoe on the other foot. It's a lot easier to take pot-shots at whoever's in charge than to try to defend a position that becomes increasingly unpopular. I will relish the task of finding all sorts of crap about Democrats and their failures to post here. What about doing what's best for the nation you ask? Why not come together? You know that won't happen. It didn't happen when the Repubs were in charge, why would it change when another, equally distasteful, group comes to town? And, trust me, it will get easier. More than likely the next president will be a Dem. All the better. The pendulum swings. Politics is a game, and the libs have won this round. Their power is only temporary, it always is.

How do people live into adulthood without the ability to out-think a paper bag? Your argument is so full of logical holes and childish biliousness, it's actually entertaining. (Well, that last was a lie.)

Some influential conservative intellectuals, Andrew Sullivan and George Will among them, seem fairly satisfied with the result. Even J Podhertz at NRO's The Corner can see real benefit in these elections.

The fact is, Rove tried to divide the country, and rule by empowering one extreme. One extreme cannot govern this country. The middle is back in the game, and we're glad to be there. Some of those on the right who've felt disenfranchised or betrayed are glad the middle is back as well.

Remember, the Dems have only one branch of three. Granted, its the most powerful branch, but its still only one branch of three.

OK, so your prediction is business as usual from the GOP. But you may be projecting your vicious, power-grabbing ways onto people who may not have power as their only value. (Even many true conservatives have been horrified at what's been going on. Some even said it would be a good thing for the Republicans to lose.)

That's it? I knew it would be way above and beyond you to actually say something besides Bush bad, Bush bad, Rumsfeld satan, Rove Beelzebub. You are a one tune sandwich. Enjoy your time in the sun.

Well, glad to see we've crawled out of the sandbox. Are you Christian? (Serious question.) Because eye for an eye went out two thousand years ago, if so. More importantly, are you only six years old, and thus have no memory of the Republicans disgusting launch of modern shit governance during Clinton's tenure?

Here's a nice difference for you: Nothing said about the Repubs here was a lie. Virtually everything the Repubs toss out is alie or distortion. Big difference.

At least, for those that no longer play in sandboxes.

No, not business as usual. Obviously that doesn't work. The Dems came to power promising change. The change will be something the American public won't like in 4-8 years time and then the Republicans, fresh off an attitude adjustment, will come back....you guessed it....promising change. So, yes, I too view it as a "good thing" although I shudder to think what lies in store for us now with Dems in control. Alas, we will survive as we have in the past. You know, Repubs haven't played the whiner role since bubba left office. We can only aspire to be as good as the Dems at biatching and moaning.

I love that Dem "vicious, power-grabbing ways" bit. Dance with the one that brung ya, I guess. If your eyes are burning, that's probably because that little saying originated in Texas, I believe. You know, home of the eeeevil Bushie.
