I see job openings for Google Korea, but I'm wondering what the job atmosphere must be like.
Foreign companies like IBM, Microsoft, Google are mostly made up of native Koreans, right?
I'd like to work in Korea and stay in my field also, but I'm not so sure that I'll fit in. heh. |

Yes, but immigration really was not keen on supplying me with a "namjacheopdaeboo" <sp?> (male prostitute) visa. It was during the Chaebol crisis and work was scarce....don't judge me!

Typically, if you want to obtain anything other than an E2 visa, you and your future employer are going to have to show immigration that you possess professional skills that other Koreans do not have. Otherwise, fuggettaboudit. |

Can you explicate on your hardships to give me a better understanding of Korean office culture? |

That would be like describing colors to a blind man. |

Just google it.
If u didn't know that already, I'm not sure you'd be what they're looking for in an employee. |

What is the big freaking deal? This thread is proof that there are plenty of people working in non teaching jobs. What can joe foreigner do, that cholsu korean can't? Speak fluent English for one.. and that is just a starting point. |

Yeah, the trick is to just be well-qualified. That's the case with the Samsung businessmen (not teachers) and whatnot. They've got the qualifications and can go pretty much wherever they want overseas, really.
Unfortunately, most people seem to think this thread is about getting non-teaching jobs in Korea, but the person who posted it just wants to know what office culture is like over here. I might post something a little later about it, but I think my experience is quite different because I work for a very, very small company, where you pretty much just need the typical ability to speak English and a familiarity with Korean culture. Not sure how much that would help.
OP: Just to reiterate, yes, there are many Koreans working in the offices in Korea. |

Is it possible to do an internship in a Korean company as part of your Uni program? |
