I forgot to mention that the TV show Cheers apparently had each character having one of the Enneagram numbers. All 9 of them were represented. Has anyone else heard of that? Anyone able to find evidence that this was actually true?

Thanks.

Gurgieff was one interesting cat. There are Sufi elements and the history of it is fascinating, really! Remember, it's only a tool~ nothing more.

Correction: there are new age Sufistic elements, not real ones.

Both these statements require a little more explanation. Which of the following Sufic elements is present here:
  1. absolute submission to God's will, or
  2. the complete dissolution of the self in God's love?

peace,

I'm tied at 2 (which the test says to leave out in a tie since most women are trained to be "The Helper" from an early age) and 7..."The Enthusiast". Very Happy

If seeing the Mexican flag represent the "en Espanol" link angers you so much that you refuse to take the test, what type are you?

Honestly? You're probably a 1, or maybe an 8.

Yep, I am the same as theatrelily - exact tie between 2 and 7.

BTW, had to laugh at the reference to Scientology. My parents went 'soul searching' with Scientology when I was younger... supposedly to save their marriage. Mum has since told me that it was a lost cause. My father ended up having an affair with the receptionist at the centre! Rolling Eyes Gotta laugh or you'd cry!

I so badly wanted to agree with you, but the damned thing happens to be amazingly insightful in my case.

Let's all have a look at the True Guru.

Quote:
The Success-Oriented, Pragmatic Type: Adaptable, Excelling, Driven, and Image-Conscious
Basic Fear: Of being worthless
Basic Desire: To feel valuable and worthwhile
Enneagram Three with a Two-Wing: "The Charmer"
Enneagram Three with a Four-Wing: "The Professional"

God, yes! That's me. Now let's take a closer look at the inner workings of the Guru.

Quote:
Type Three
The Achiever

The adaptable, success-oriented type. Threes are self-assured, attractive, and charming. Ambitious, competent, and energetic, they can also be status-conscious and highly driven for advancement. They are diplomatic and poised, but can also be overly concerned with their image and what others think of them. They typically have problems with workaholism and competitiveness.

At their Best: self-accepting, authentic, everything they seem to be -- role models who inspire others.

Ain't it the truth! Cool

I dare not reprint "At their Worst".... it just rings too freakily true. And if you read it, I'd have to hunt you all down and slit your little throats.
Apparently. And I don't wanna do that. Sad
