I don't know how to get the balance and recent transactions printed in my bankbook. On the third try I put the damn book in the machine in the right direction, but none of the options that came up looked good. So I chose "cancel".

I asked a friend for help today. It's the button on the right above the red one. Hardship resolved...have to look for another one!

my home is surrounded by three churches. every sunday morning, members from at least one church come to my home to witness and convert. or at least they want to. after I answer the door and they realise I'm not Korean, I only receive a very sheepish hi and goodbye. not once have they tried to convert me, in English or Korean. not only I am I forced to wake up early to answer the door, i must also be told indirectly that my soul's not worth saving.

It's a pity your place doesn't seem to have a security system where you or the building guard has to first buzz visitors into the building. The last apartment I lived -- and it wasn't all that grand, there were hookers living all over the complex -- there'd be no way salesmen, beggars or churchpeople could be right outside my door, ringing my doorbell, unless I or a guard had buzzed them in. I can think of 99 reasons why I prefer living in a house for every 1 in favour of living in an apartment -- and that's the 1: the ability to keep undesirables out and well away.

On my way to work the other day, standing at the intersection in front of my uni, waiting for the light to change, the elastic in my underwear suddenly snapped. I could feel the jockeys slithering their way down my legs, en route to my ankles. In full view of the usual mob of pedestrians (most of them students, some of them mine), I had to reach behind me to jam said errant jockeys into my shirttail in order to thwart the inevitable pull of gravity. Also, I've been trying to quit smoking, so I bought some nicotine gum. That stuff just won't stay lit.

On the ATM I use at school, I always muss my hair because the top piece that defines my personal space at the machine for entering my top secret codes and stuff is just a smidge too low.

Thanks for reminding me of a story from one of my friends. She woke up a bit late for church one Sunday so pulled on her pants from the day before. Went on to mass and as she was walking down the aisle to communion noticed that her panty hose from the day before were dragging out the bottom of her pants, trailing her down the aisle.

This is much worse than the morning I squatted down to pick up a piece of chalk off the floor during first hour class and ripped out the seat of my pants--and spent the rest of the hour with my back to the blackboard.

My roommate is vomiting in the bathroom, and I need to pee.

The A-Team is the only thing on tv right now that's remotely watchable.

And - I just noticed that my laptop's screen is smudged. Why, O why?

I didn't mind so much that a drunk was trying to get into my apartment at 4:30 this morning. I went to the door and politely told him that he didn't live here and to try another floor or another building. After his Shocked at seeing my white face and his apology in clear English, I thought the episode was over. Went back to bed. Within 5 minutes he was back. This time I went to the door armed with my trusty bathroom floor squeegy thing and told him to knock it off.

There are 420 apartments in my complex. Why did he zero in on the only waygookin's apartment? Why? Why? I'm SURE the neighbors all think I came home stinking drunk in the middle of the night. Evil or Very Mad

I was so upset the second time that I couldn't go back to sleep. Nor could I eat breakfast. Now my bacon is thawed and I could make French toast, but it's 10 AM and too late for breakfast since I want to go to E-Mart and eat at McDonald's.

1) A swollen toe from a soccer kick on Thursday kept me out of today's Hadong Marathon.

2) My Korean training partner has a massive toothache and bowed out too.

3) The other waygook who is running in it today phoned to cancel his plan to stay over last night, thereby wasting a whole day of cleaning, shopping and food prep I had done.

It took me an entire day just to figure out how to use my washing machine. Sometimes I am still suspicious that my clothes are not getting quite as clean as they could be.
