In the home country, I was a Sugars guy, running around eating complex carbohydrates like pasta, potatoes and bread. You Fats people could've kept your lean ground beef as long as I got my veggie lasagna.

But in Korea I'm becoming a Spices guy. I need to have salt like never before and I crave jalepenoes with zing.

Have your flavour buds changed?

I didn't like seasalt before and it took some time here but, I now prefer it to the almost vinegary tang of the salt back home. I even find myself cooking with curry, a spice I used to consider too strong for anything but a rare substitution for paprika.

And, let's figure out what flavour are the the nations of the world. Canada, like America, is a land of plenty of flavours, yet they both seem like Fats with their steaks, hamburgers and KFC. (Look at the success of the "Where's the beef?" ad) Even low-fat diets try to separate the good from bad fats, obsessed as they are with it. But maybe Canada is more of a Sugars type with all the doughnuts, muffins and Timbits consumed.

What flavour is your country?

Korea is easily classified as a Spices country though I'd think it may have been more of a Sugars type (with all the rice) before the Portugese traders came.

And if you are not sure what type you are, since we all consume all three types daily. Well, then let's develop a diagnostic test.

How can we diagnose whether someone is Sugars, Fats, Spices?

If you prefer to drink coffee without sugar or cream, you may be Spices;
If you order extra cheese on your pizza, you may be Fats;
If you put ketchup on everything, you may be Sugars.
