Impeachment Is Just Peachy
Quote: |
Do you believe President Bush's actions justify impeachment? * 313019 responses
Yes, between the secret spying, the deceptions leading to war and more, there is plenty to justify putting him on trial.
86%
No, like any president, he has made a few missteps, but nothing approaching "high crimes and misdemeanors."
4.4%
No, the man has done absolutely nothing wrong. Impeachment would just be a political lynching.

I don't know.

you'd have to add some answers like:
Is George Bush a great president?
Is George Bush the greatest president?
I know its ripping of Colbert but their polls seem to skew that way |

Isn't it amazing the Pelosi and now Howard Dean have come out and said "No impeachment?"
Even if 'we the people' demand it?
Even if Bush/Cheney were behind 9/11?
Even if Bush has torn up the Bill of Rights?
Even if there is no more writ of habeas corpus?
Even if Bush/Cheney have over ruled the Posse Comitatus Act?
Even if Bush/Cheney have encouraged and condoned torture?
Even if Bush/Cheney lied us into the Iraqi war?
Even if they are setting up a Authoritarian Police State?
No impeachment, no matter what? |

Irrelevant. The relevant question is whether general polls would find similar answers:
Poll: Americans Favor Bush's Impeachment If He Lied about Iraq
Quote: |
By a margin of 50% to 44%, Americans want Congress to consider impeaching President Bush if he lied about the war in Iraq, according to a new poll commissioned by AfterDowningStreet.org, a grassroots coalition that supports a Congressional investigation of President Bush's decision to invade Iraq in 2003.
The poll was conducted by Ipsos Public Affairs, the highly-regarded non-partisan polling company. The poll interviewed 1,001 U.S. adults on October 6-9.
The poll found that 50% agreed with the statement:
"If President Bush did not tell the truth about his reasons for going to war with Iraq, Congress should consider holding him accountable by impeaching him."
44% disagreed, and 6% said they didn't know or declined to answer. The poll has a +/- 3.1% margin of error.
Among those who felt strongly either way, 39% strongly agreed, while 30% strongly disagreed.
"The results of this poll are truly astonishing," said AfterDowningStreet.org co-founder Bob Fertik. "Bush's record-low approval ratings tell just half of the story, which is how much Americans oppose Bush's policies on Iraq and other issues. But this poll tells the other half of the story - that a solid plurality of Americans want Congress to consider removing Bush from the White House."
Impeachment Supported by Majorities of Many Groups
Responses varied by political party affiliation: 72% of Democrats favored impeachment, compared to 56% of Independents and 20% of Republicans.
Responses also varied by age and income. Solid majorities of those under age 55 (54%), as well as those with household incomes below $50,000 (57%), support impeachment.
Majorities favored impeachment in the Northeast (53%), West (51%), and even the South (50%). |

New Zogby Poll Shows Majority of Americans Support Impeaching Bush for Wiretapping
Quote: |
By a margin of 52% to 43%, Americans want Congress to consider impeaching President Bush if he wiretapped American citizens without a judge's approval, according to a new poll commissioned by AfterDowningStreet.org, a grassroots coalition that supports a Congressional investigation of President Bush's decision to invade Iraq in 2003.
The poll was conducted by Zogby International, the highly-regarded non-partisan polling company. The poll interviewed 1,216 U.S. adults from January 9-12.
The poll found that 52% agreed with the statement:
"If President Bush wiretapped American citizens without the approval of a judge, do you agree or disagree that Congress should consider holding him accountable through impeachment."
43% disagreed, and 6% said they didn't know or declined to answer. The poll has a +/- 2.9% margin of error. |

This is not surprising, indeed it is unremarkable: even someone of Pelosi's politics -- and she appears to have helped ease Rumsfeld out in under twelve hours -- is insufficient to satisfy you.
Politics is the art of compromise, gentlemen, and even though I disagree with Pelosi's, thus far I think her posture and style command respect and, indeed, reciprocity, which might just be in the air if, quite frankly, all of the extremists like you will simply sit down, keep your hysterical rantings to yourself, and let the grown-ups see what they might be able to accomplish in this new state of affairs... |

wow....
Isn't it weird that cheating on your wife and gettin' a blow job could have the same INTERNATIONAL reprocussions as wiretapping and starting a war based on faulty info?
Nothing personal yanks but your politics are really, really weird. |

Nothing personal but it's your understanding of yankie politics is what is weird. It was not because of cheating on the wife or getting a wash job from the Jewess Lewinsky that impeachment was commenced, it was because of lying under oath.
"I did not have sex with that woman...."
"I did not have sex with that woman...."
Read my lips...no new taxes!"

Meegook's post above almost looks to be the work of a sane and rational human being.
Except for the 'jewess' part. |

If "Impeachment is not on the table" wasn't bd enough, we have to look at this for the next two years, the radical feminist middle aged portrait woman for the stretch job industry.

It's pure BS. That was the only technicality they could find: lying under oath, which he didn't do. There are millions and millions of Americans who do not consider oral "sex" as equal to intercourse and don't consider it "sex."
To try to impeach someone for a definition that isn't even agreed upon as a social standard in the first place? Bullshit. It had nothing to do with the blow job nor the "lying." It was a partisan crusade, nothing less.
And here we have giopher, the ever-foolish salivating lapdog of the Repubs trying to cast rational discussion as rabid craziness. Crazy is to repeatedly attempt to redefine others' actions when you are already known to be a liar. And you lie again. And you insult again, per usual. Ya know, you should have learned from this election that falsely portraying your opposition does nothing but make you look like a fool.
Pelosi is wrong, and you have no standing in the conversation gopher because you are a partisan hack, nothing more. You do not stand on principle, you stand on ego. You do not stand on principle, you stand on party affiliation. To wit: the greatest crimes against this nation by any president in the history of this nation, and we should not even consider impeachment hearings?
Justify that. I'll give you the lifetime you'll need. I'll check in just before you crawl in your grave so you can admit you were a partisan shill who wanted nothing more than to be a party hack, and rest easy.
You are irrelevant. Leave this to people who believe in America. You are not one of them. |
