After months and months trying to find out why I did not really like it here in Korea, I found the answer! It can all be summed up in two words.....

LOW QUALITY!

I am the type of person to always look at the best clothes, the best car, the best chocolate, the best friends, the best restaurants, and so when I came here, I was expecting to find high quality things! But tonight I realized that most of the things here are LOW QUALITY!

1. The atmosphere......look at the buildings, the cheap siding, the way the streets are patched together, an eye sore!

2. The education......look at the schools, even the "university" students just get a low quality education. Look at the "teachers" who are recruited! Could they work as teachers in their home countries? Not very many!

3. Crowds.....look at the complaints so far for koreans running to grab all the free snacks (posted earlier this week), or the pushing, the rude stares, the rude questions, the rude manners, LOW QUAILTY PEOPLE.\

4. Look at the products, things that break after a short time, I had 3 hair dryers in the past 6 months!!!!!!!!

5. Friendships......I dont know how many times I had a "friend" here do something like make me pay for an evening out, or just use me for something, uggggggggggggggggggggggggg.

6. History.......korea has a low quaility history as well. Always having to depend on other nations, always being insecure, low quality.

Look at the negative posts on daves, most of them will deal with this problem, Low quality!

So many marriages fail here because of this as well.

7. I guess so many koreans are going to school in Europe, copying so many countries because they know that places like England and the U.S and Australia and Germany and Japan have high quality products and are just high quality!

nice high quality rant.

there's a saying that goes something like "takes one to know one".. I'm sure your high quality self could make the grammar and vocabulary of much higher quality.

Seriously now, how much more negative and whiny could this board get?

Chill the *beep* out people!

D- trollscore for choosing n00b targets and overall style.

This one was far more impressive. A solid 'B' for that effort. This was weak as well..another 'D' effort, I'm afraid. Again, lacklustre style and n00b targets.

Keep pluggin' socky...

I have no problem with my life here or Korea but I agree with the OP.

The reason I am happy here is because of what I have done to set myself up and make my life better here in Korea....it isnt because of Korea.

I have lived and worked in 4 countries so far and Korea is the least special...but I still like it

Wow! I guess you are such a successful teacher that you have become a teacher everywhere you go! Or........is it some kind of mental illness......some guy walking around giving grades to random people for random tasks. Looks like you have some need issues that can only be solved by getting in touch with a real teacher, maybe a psychologist can help you Wink

BY THE WAY, THIS IS MY LAST POST, I AM TIRED OF BEING CRITISIZED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ha ha ha. Just joking, I like to imagine the little geek men behind their computers after a lonely night, writing their little put downs from their flawed personalities while they escape their sad and lonely lives that they have created for themselves because they were not accepted in their own societies. I guess I should really feel sorry for them. But I will write on! Its fun to stir the cages of the little monkymen sometimes! Wink

Oh, by the way, actually I was using irony, this place is GOLD, in fact it is so great none of the people are leaving, it has such high quality that all of the educated coutries are sending their young people here, EVERYONE in the world is copying korean products, it is the vacation destiny of the world! Not Paris, not Rome, not Swiss watches, korean watches!

ha ha ha

actually , the only ones staying here are the smart "teachers" who do not notice the educated people are the ones leaving to go to Australia and New Zealand and Europe and AMerica!

talk about running into a burning house, ha ha ha,

Korean electronics and automobiles are exported all over the world, and I have to say their electronics are of good quality.

I also don't see how the tenth largest economy in the world can possibly be called a "burning house"

Given the quality of your post, don't you see some irony here?

It seems, Osangirl, that you're simply not that bright. But you work with what you've got, and do what you can, which is, I guess, in a sad little way, kind of admirable...

I agree with you on that one. It's not the most beautiful city in the world and the architecture is quite monotonous.

But there are some nice areas (Olympic Park, the Palaces) and the city is making an effort to improve with projects like the Chungecheon stream and uts future plans for the land currently held by the American military at Yongsan.

I agree with you there too.

I don't know, but for me i've had more Koreans treat me kindly as opposed to rudely.

I guess it's just how you carry yourself and you willingness to adopt to a new culture.

These are two things that your not very good at Alyssia.

I've had products break back home too. There's really no difference in my opinion.

Yeah, but judging you based on this post and your history on this board you appear to be a very bitter and negative person.

Who would really want to hang out with a person like that?

This one's on you girl. You have nobody to blame but yourself.

I'm not sure about the point you're tring to make here. But have you ever anything about Korean history. It's quite fascinating and you will be able to much better understand the people and the culture as a result.

Then aren't you basically arguing that your own posts on Dave's are of low quality because the majority of your posts are negative?

But I thought you were the kind of person who always looks for the best quality?

Why the contradiction? And don't blame Korea on this one. Look in the mirror Alyssa.

Last I hear, marriages in the West weren't doing so well. But isn't that the place of "high quality".

Pretty weak argument here girl.

Korean culture isn't popular in the West, but it does have quite an influence throughout Asia. That's pretty good for a country its size.

Try purchasing a couple Korean movies with English subtitles. Visit a few art museums.

There is culture here. It might be in your face like Itatly or France, but it's here.

Look Alyssa, you really need to leave Korea.

You personal life is obviously dark and you're projecting these negative feelings on an entire country and culture.

It's okay to bitch from time to time, but I think your failing to adress the most important question; yourself!

You are not even trying to find anything positive here because you've already made your mind up that Korea is crap and you're the victim.

Like I said, there are a lot of things about this country that drive me nuts (i'd also say the same thing about my own country), howeverm I have seen a lot of positive things and had so many meaningful experiences that my time here will always be in my heart.

You Alyssa, simply can't cut it. And that's okay because adapting and most importantly trying to understand a different culture can be quite difficult.

This is obviously not what you're made for.

If someone has meaning in their life, along with healthy anf loving friendships and relationships, then I believe they can be happy anywhere. Which if these things are you missing Alyssa?

One final time; for your own mental health and for the sakes of all the people here who are enjoying our life here and are sick and tired of posters that have nothing but negative things to say; give you one month notice and purchase a ticket back home.

Perhaps there you will be happy. Perhaps......

Isn't it really sad that the only attention you are getting in your life right now is by posting material like this, in the pathetic hope that someone will respond and therefore acknowledge you.

It doesn't even matter how they respond. All you need is someone to reply and you will feel human again.

Plus honey, you wouldn't stand a chance with me. You could possibly be attractive for all I know, but the minute you open your mouth i'd turn around and walk away.

sometimes i wish i was a mormon. that way if someone asked me why i was stupid i could say "wait, didn't you know i was a mormon?" and then maybe they'd be mistaken that i'd said "moron" and i'd be off the hook.

but *beep*. born atheist, raised catholic, born-again atheist. can't do it.
