I'm around 16,000. I haven't submitted it yet. I keep going back and changing things. Sad I don't think I'll make 50,000 words by the deadline. Not unless I accelerate the development of what was to be the main plot, make it a subplot, and then go off in a different direction with just some of the characters. (Some will be killed off.) It's getting too complex to write. I have paper notecards on a corkboard and different-coloured Post-its all over two desktop screens. And about 2,000 words just sitting in a file that I am waiting for an opportunity to work into the plot. Reading what I've written the past three days would be an unusual form of torture.
