What race exactly is he supposed to have stirred up hatred against? He called for attacks on British troops and on anti-Islamic types, as well as for more 9-11s. I don't see that he was singling out any particular race.

The Old Bailey jury was unable to reach a verdict on a separate charge of inciting murder.

This would seem to be the more plausible charge, though I'm guessing that some of the jurors figured he wasn't really expecting any of his listeners to go out and commit murder. And frankly, I don't see much difference between this guy and some yahoo in a pub saying that we should bomb some faraway country "back to the stone age". Rahman was just dumb enough to shout his vitriol into a microphone within earshot of the cops.

This is where I would post a picture of Bill the Cat (from Dubuque) if I knew anything about computers.

BILL <-- This could be you after a visit to either coast, especially if you met that man!

1One, you should be pleased that he is prosecuted. 2Two, you should be pleased that a Muslim MP also openly expressed his pleasure at such a prosecution and conviction and the fact that England deported a cleric last year. 3England's efforts should be commended somewhat, BJWD, because it focuses on the moderates of the community while going out against the fringe and working to use the moderates to give them a clue as to where the fanatics are located. 4This conviction will help create a climate of fear for some of these people who think they can mouth such threats. They will know someone may be watching them, and we do not play. 5You forget making the example out of a few people sends a message to multitudes of people. I am sure the British have their agents who can speak Arabic in various mosques to keep the authorities abreast of what thoughts are out there. 6You are underestimating the will of the authorities.

My numbers...
1) I am, I guess.
2) What was the MP going to do? Openly support him?? They only do that i) in private and ii) never in English.
3) No, they shouldn't. Lipstick on a pig. Capitulation is still the norm.
4) One dude out of thousands gets charged and they are going to be scared? Please. This demonstrates to them that you can say whatever you want and the 99% most likely outcome is nothing. This (getting arrested for inciting murder) is almost the same odds as winning the lottery. Yeah. Scared. Uh hu.
5) The muslims made an example out of the testicle-less UK state and security sector. The muslims got away with it. ONE dude didn't.
6) The authorities are unable to stop muslims for the same reason that the British (though, from my experience almost 100% want this) are unable to prevent the muslims from colonizing their territory. Political Correctness and White Guilt.

The English race.

Next Question?

(assuming that was meant as a serious response)

So the category of "British soldiers in Iraq" is synononous with "the English race"?
