Something I'm wondering about now that I have a system that has the possibility of overheating is the ondol here. I keep my tower on the floor. It's got a giant heat sink on the CPU, as well as one on the card, but I'm curious about if I should put it on a box or something during the winter so the floor heat doesn't cause the system to overheat.
Any thoughts on this? |

I put mine on a counter so it is NOT on the floor.
Barring that, even a short stack of books should be enough insulation or just make sure that there isn't a hot spot under the tower. |

| Ah ok, so it is a legitimate concern I should deal with, then? |

If your PC is overheating then, yeah. You have a problem. My PC is on the floor too. The ondol seems to make it a couple of degrees warmer. But it's still within safe temperatures so I'm not worried. |

| Yeah it's running at about 37 celsius now, so I reckon I've not got much to worry about. Thanks for the help dudes. |

To avoid any potential problems, I would DEFINITELY remove it from the floor. I don't know how your floor heating is, but my floor in my apartment can get pretty warm. I have it sitting in a tower area in my desk. The temp. idles between 22 and 31 degrees celcius (the former when the door is open; latter when it is closed). Man how that cool air makes a difference on the pc. |

| I've got my pc on the floor but I've got two 3cm thick slabs of wood lifting it off the floor so there's no direct contact with the heat. |

My floor got really hot last year, even when I did not have the floor heat on, and the tower got very hot. I put it on a small Korean table, and that worked just fine. It also gave me some extra table space to put the printer on. Now I have a slim tower, and it is on the desk.
You also can buy (or find) a short book shelf, and lay it on its side, and put the tower on that. I would take it off the floor. |
