|
|
Hi
I have an E2 visa that expires February, but want to spend a week to 10 days travelling in Korea after I stop work, before I return home.
What happens after the E2 has expired?, do I have to leave the country immediately, or does it revert to a standard 90 tourist visa?
Thanks

| You have to go to immi with your plane ticket in hand. They will give you an extension (I think 10 days is the maximium extension). If you don't get one, you face big fines on your way out. |

When your ARC expires you can get an extension for up to 10 days.
It requires a plane ticket out of the country.
It is free.
It can be done any time within the last 30 days of your visa but is best done in the last week.
If you want more time or no hassle you will have to jump out and back. The ferry to Japan and back will suffice. A cheap flight to Taiwan will also do the trick and can sometimes be cheaper than the ferry to Japan.
You don't even have to "enter" Japan (go through passport control), it is just that you MUST leave Korea (have the exit stamp in your passport).
You will get your 90 day visa waiver stamp on re-entry. |

| Perhaps it has changed, but last October I had my ARC extended for 28 days. Also, an actual plane ticket wasn't required. A confirmed reservation sufficed. |
