So, once more for luck. People doing what they are supposed to do is not news.

Today a teacher did three hours of quality preparation and then taught 6 very effective classes.

It's great that it happens, but it's not news.

Dude, in a world of evil, news should focus on the good works people are doing or the injustices they are exposing. Obviously the mundane isn't news such as what you are arguing with. But when someone goes and feeds thousands of orphans or people are being healed of AIDS. Then that should be news.

I would be all for the reporting of "good news" if the reporting gave equal time to gays & lesbians, atheists, smokers, pornographers, etc. who do wonderful things for the less fortunate.

Peace

Most non-addicted people hate smoking, regardless of whether they're religious or not. If someone wrote an article about some good deed you'd done, would you really want the writer to mention your smoking habit so kids could read it?

Yes.

Somebody has to pay taxes that would otherwise fall on virtuous non-smokers. Laughing

Why not, if just to counter the stereotype of the addicted, nasty smoker?

Because it would tend to promote smoking, and because some readers are too young to think critically about the fact that a person who does some good things also happens to have made a very bad health choice.
