I had a lovely experience tonight. I was feeling pretty good while coming home to good ol' Bucheon because the express train arrived right when I got to Sindorim station.
That good luck was short-lived; the express train stopped at Guro station and wouldn't go any further. Why? Because of the rain storm going on I think. So I got off the train, sat down, and decided to wait for the next train, whenever the heck that might be.
Some ajoshi then came and sat next to me, asked me where I was going, and I told him Bucheon. He said he was too, but we were stuck because the subway wasn't operating. I was like yeah, i know, thanks anyway. So after 10 minutes he tells me, "Kapshida." I figure why not, what do I have to lose? So we leave Guro Station, along with everyone else. The street outside is just packed with people trying to either get a taxi or bus. The ajoshi and I go down to a bus stop that goes to Bucheon. Problem is every freaking bus to Bucheon is packed and won't stop: WOO HOO... Taxi it is...
So ended up taking a taxi for 18,000 won for 3 of us. Not bad really, considering the driver could have really ripped us off, given the circumstances. The ajoshi turned out to be a worker at Yongsan base too, pretty cool. Every bus stop from Guro to the Seoul/Bucheon border was just crammed with people, was crazy.
Anyway, anyone else get stuck on line #1 to incheon? |

You got really lucky. I was stuck at Guro in a similar situation at a different time. I ended up sharing a cab back to Bucheon with three other people, and we ended up paying 15,000 per person. |

I hear you guys.
I had that happen to me a number of times, as I commuted from Incheon to Seoul for 8 years. I'm telling ya, the train ride wore me out every morning and by the time I got to work or to school I had no energy left for work.
To refuel myself, I usually swung by the snack bar that sold Kimbap near my work and started a day with little snacky.
Feels like a long time ago. The memory of the train packed with people is becoming less vivid. |
