Christmas, that is.

Quote:
LONDON (Reuters) - Christian and Muslim Britons joined forces on Monday to tell city officials to stop taking the Christianity out of Christmas, warning them that this fueled right-wing extremism.

They attacked local authorities which used titles like "Winterval" for their Christmas celebrations and avoided using Christian symbols in case they offended minority groups, especially Muslims and Hindus.

This somewhat confirms my inkling that, if it weren't for foreign policy, Muslims and conservative Christians would find common ground on many issues.

Oh hell yeah. Raving misogyny and homophobia for starters. And hating all those who don't believe as they do for desert!

There is more to Christianity and Islam than that. For example, giving charity to the poor, respecting your elders etc... All religions have some redeeming qualities. And Christmas, as the name indicates, comes from Christ. One does not need to believe in Christ to exchange gifts, but why should one call Christmas winterval and dismantle the holiday's name to placate secular extremists? I think this cooperation was good, and I agree with BJWD and the OP on this one. Anyway, these Muslims who are cooperating are obviously not traditionalists as it is not part of the Muslim belief to celebrate Christmas, but they venerate Jesus.
