| I need to find a good dictionary that I can start using now to help me learn the language. Pickings are very slim here. The only dictionary I have been able to find recently was entirely in English which I think is pretty useless. I want to learn to read Korean also. I would love to have one of the electronic ones that one of my Korean language partners has, but I can't afford to spend the money right now. Does anyone have any suggestions on a good paperback dictionary that I could find in a store here or order online? | |

 | www.amazon.com has a pretty wide assortment if you type "korean dictionary" into their search feature, but I've been using an electronic dictionary for a long time so I can't recommend a specific line of paperback dictionaries.
Yahoo! Korea also has a decent online dictionary at kr.dic.yahoo.com. Just type the word you want to know in the top field (통합사전) or the first one down on the left (영어사전).

 | For the electronic dictionary, wait until you get here. You'll need a cell phone, and the ones here with dictionaries in them are cheap now. My Samsung (anycall) phone has a half million words in it, and the price dropped like 80% from when I bought it.
For a paperback, just go to Amazon. Some phrasebooks are also handy.

 | lifeinkorea.com has a decent, not great, phrase book. You really don't need a lot of koean when you come. Learn hello, thanks, goodbye. you'll be fine for the first little bit.
