hey there , me and a buddy have just landed in Ulsan . Weve been here a week and seem to have landed on our feet , good schools apartments etc .Really enjoying it . We would love to meet up with other people teachers or koreans who have been here a while to grab a soju/beer and show us around . Would love to know What kinds of things can be done for fun around here nightclubs , rollerblading parks etc.
Oh and if anyone could help with these questions it would be great ,
Is there a guitar /music shop in Ulsan ? we left our axes at home
Is there any sort of skateboarding scene in Ulsan / South Korea ? would love to find a skate spot in Ulsan or a skate shop
any help much appreciated ,

Welcome to Ulsan.
Just as well that you left your "axes" at home, as they are far cheaper in Korea than anywhere else, I'd say, in the world. My info is that 90% of world production is from Korea. Doesn't sound right, but even if inaccurate, the figure has to be favorable.
There is only one decent store in Ulsan as far as I know. Far better to descend on nearby Daegu. There's an entire street dedicated to guitar shops and you'll be spoilt for choice.
Once you are ready for the purchase I'll escort you there. Use pm. |

Welcome.
Some good places to start for infor are www.theulsanpear.biz and theulsanweb.com
As for places to meet foreigners, Benchwarmers and Tombstone are the places to do that. Things get hopping there later when most people finish their hagwon jobs.
As for guitars, Daegu is indeed the place to go.
As for a skating scene... I kinda doubt it but you never know. Doesn't seem to be anything going on here that I have seen.
Enjoy. |

Welcome to Ulsan - The most polluted city in Korea, possibly Northeast Asia! You didn't really believe that who ECOTROPOLIS (Yes, Dr. Hwang is now working as a copywriter for the city of Ulsan) crap posted on the Ulsan Website did you? Oh well, too late to do anything about that now, so before your lungs liquify, I'll try to help you out.
If you want to rollerbade/skateboard, the best place I've found is Moonsoo soccer stadium in MoogeoDong. Plenty of flat surfaces around the stadium, plus a huge parking lot that always seems to be empty. It's great. It isn't really a skateboard park, but there is a paved hilly part and lots of things to jump over and do your tricks on. I'd like to see you jump over one of those families having a pavement picnic. I hear that there are lots of things at Ulsan Grand Park..there may be a skate park there.
I'll ask my students.
You'll find lots of foreigners across the street from Ulsan University in Tombstone or WaBar, plus the other places that were mentioned. |
