Agreed, EFLTrainer. One thing I dislike about evangelical faith healing is the FAITH part. Not the theological faith part (though I disagree with evangelical theology), but the "if you have enough faith God will heal you" part. On the flip side of this, I suppose not having enough faith means God's just not going to give you the time of day. Once again, God's an egotistical big bully, helping you if you just find that right amount of faith; otherwise, allowing you to be sick permanently or die.
My grandmother also died of cancer, as did my grandfather recently. They were both people of deep, evangelical faith. If anyone had the faith to be healed, it was them. However, they died. Luckily, they did not believe in this charismatic style of faith healing, and died with their hopes up and faith intact. |

| Given all the problems in the world today, growing an ajossi's 'shag' back after chemo is a little underwhelming, don't you think? Shouldn't god be spending his miracle time deactivating landmines and curing congenital birth defects? |

I think you are missing the point. He was healed of cancer first and then this time he had a new shag. I threw the shag part in their because of his enthusiam. He couldn't even talk before and now he was talking about his new due. Not too shaggy. |

Hey, now that's my kind of revival meeting! Pictures, Fiveeagles, pictures..
I do not doubt that there are genuine occasional instances of God's grace healing the infirm. But I do think it is dangerous to flaunt these examples as proof. First, it tends to make heroes out of the men doing such things and turns what should be a service giving thanks and praise into a circus act-- do it again, let's see more! Second, using these situations where someone is healed to prove God I think cheapens faith even as it does nothing to convince the skeptic; these things will never happen under the controlled and verifiable circumstances necessary for good science.
I think this is what Christ was talking about when He talked about 'people asking for a proof but they will get none'; wanting to heal people in order to give proof rather than concern for the sick is like ringing God's doorbell and then running away, worrying more about people seeing the proof than anyone actually getting better.

Agreed and thus why this thread is on proof of prophecy and not on healing and why I haven't started a thread on such. This thread has gone off topic for a bit, but will return.
One thing, and maybe I am wrong here, but Rev 12: says
11They overcame him
by the blood of the Lamb
and by the word of their testimony;
they did not love their lives so much
as to shrink from death.
Testimony of healing is a powerful sign that God does heal. |

This objection comes up a lot; but I guess because faith is always a current event for many, it's the best forum for it.
Besides, I want to hear more about the great shag!
