Note that the ad for Kyungsung University specifies that the one year contract "is renewable depending on the teaching evaluation".

Other universities include similar wording in their ads. For example, Dong-A says "renewable based on performance"

Sounds like a good idea in theory. After all, encouraging and rewarding excellence should be the goal of any academic institution, shouldn't it?
But it would be a good idea to ask serious questions of any university that carries this phrasing in their ad. How do they carry out this evaluation and who does it based on what criteria? How would you know it was being done fairly?
This wording is a change from "Renewable each year on mutual agreement". found on many university contracts. |

Many unis as well as some other schools have an evaluation system. Teachers are observed from time to time by senior staff. Students are also expected to hand in feedback forms to assess their teacher's performance at the end of every course. Are all the evaluations fair? Not all, but if you are doing a good job, there is little cause for concern. |
