Former fatties are always mean as hell to current fatties. It's a self-loathing thing. They see themselves in every walking whale that passes. |

Opposite. Fatties absolutely hate ex-fatties, because their lives are better now and they wish they could be the same. Simple. And yes, I loathe the massive drain on the health care system, having to sit beside them on trains, buses or planes, etc due to pure laziness.
We aren't mean, we are direct. THere is a big difference. We don't feel the need to coddle fat people, and we know their lives would be BETTER (yes better, no matter what Oprah tells you ) if they lost it. I am not talking about going around poking people a la pillsbury dough boy or randomly calling people lardass, but just telling them they are fat in a constructive way (when done in person). |

There is a difference between being direct and being obnoxious.
You mind me of a Korean friend of mine who thinks he is direct/frank. To him that means walking up to a black person and saying "You are black!". Or saying to a fat person "You are a big pig." |

Maybe you should learn how to read. Obviously, I don't remind you of him (or you are just an idiot) since I specifically said this...

LEARN TO READ!
Being fat is not cool, you have less energy, you take up more room, you eat more, it is not good for your health, etc... I am not talking about a bit overweight, I am talking about fat people with no medical excuse whatsoever (many of them). |

Actully when you start off with namecalling.."fattie" this and that you do remind me of him. I could have started this off by calling you an a$$hat, but didn't, not constructive. Neither is your namecalling.
Nice of you to be able to tell me who or what someone reminds ME of. If only the world could benefit from your ability to know what others are thinking. You do remind me of him through your use of stupid name calling, and trying to hide behind the protection of claiming you are just being direct.
It is great you lost the weight. It would be nice if everyone who needed to did. You do seem to have gained some sort of hard-on against those who haven't achieved what you did. |

I'm sitting here with my jaw on the floor, mystified by the fact that the Guru isn't flying first, or at least business, class. What has the world come to? |
Feel like I've let the side down. I used to fly Business for a few wonderful years, but it's difficult (impossible, really) to justify that price premium when you're the one having to pay for the ticket. And that's the case for me now. Doubly difficult when you're buying tickets for two people. In addition to the departure and return from/to Korea, we took quite a few shorter flights during my holiday. I could buy a decent used car, new suits, new computers, etc. for the money I didn't spend to fly Business. And maybe I'm seeing something that's not there, but space-wise, Business Class of 2006 is looking like Economy-Plus Class of the 1990s. I'm sure the food & service is probably still noticeably better than in Economy, but I need there to be way, WAY more snob value if I'm going to pay that premium. |

That was a huge load of crap. You made the mistake, not me. I haven't insulted anyone directly, and said that people should be told they are fat IN A CONSTRUCTIVE WAY. Your analogy is wrong, there is a massive difference between calling hypothetical fat people fatties and you calling me an asshat. Oh, I used the word fattie. This current trend of Westerners becoming pathetic little cry babies is really annoying.
You said my words reminded you of your friend. Since my words were absolutely nothing like your friend's (see capitalized words again), then I don't see the connection. You changed it a bit to add in the direct part, after being proven wrong. Nice try though, as even that doesn't hold up.
They are causing untold financial damage to health care and causing problems like taking up excess space on or in a vehicle. That alone is enough to tell people to shut up and shape up, IN A CONSTRUCTIVE WAY AND WITH HELP.
You are way too emotional, and on the attack for just the word fattie. Why this bothers you so much, whatever? No matter what you might think, people are happier and have more energy (the two actually go together) after losing the weight.
Trust me, I most definitely have not "gained some sort of hard-on against those who haven't achieved what I did" That sentence really wasn't too bright. Maybe you meant "hate-on". |

Look, I am not trying to be mean, but I AM trying to offend. I am trying to counteract the West's, "You should be happy and proud of who you are." It's BS. Most people could easily lose the weight with a bit of help, encouragement and a need to. The last one is the most important. We need to make being fat BAD again. It is still not good, but it is changing to be alright. People have more energy, are happier, are less of a drain on the health care system, etc when they are healthy. This should be done constructively, but walking through Itaewon, I can see how I might of offended a lot on this board Good, that is my intention. I do not think fat people are stupid, or bad people. I haven't said this. But they are lazy (usually, I have allowed for medical reasons, like my sister when she was growing up) and to be honest, need a bit of a kick along with help to start it. |

I used to think that the only way I could lose weight was if I did massive amounts of exercise. That's the way I had done it in the past, but when my situation changed and I couldn't keep up the schedule of gym visits, cycling to work, playing rugby, what-have-you, I gradually gained the weight back.
Last month, I found a reason to lose the weight, and watched my calories really carefully. It's been really really easy to lose the weight. I didn't know I could get by on 1300 calories a day, but I'm not starving or even hungry most of the time, and I look much much better.
I was being pretty accepting and loving of myself (a bit overweight, but not obese), but what I didn't realize was that not everyone is able to see me that way, and it's not actually that hard to make a few changes and find my way to my "ideal weight." Anyway, what I'm trying to say is
a) you might be more overweight than you think
b) it might be easier to lose the weight than you think
The pay-off for the effort I've made in preparing meals carefully, resisting temptation and keeping track has been significant. I'm too embarrassed to tell you anything specific about why I started, or why it's been so much better since, but you probably have your own reasons that are good enough. |

All I know is that a ten hour flight cramped in a window seat (not my choice) with an astoundingly enormous woman in the seat next to me was about the most unpleasant experience of my life.
While fitting on her seatbelt extension she informed me she was going to have to store all of her carry-on luggage under the seat in front of ME because her legs took up all of the space in front of her. Her arms were too big to fit into her seat space, so she rested one in my seat space and one in the seat space on the other side. I was completely unable to move for the entire flight - I was literally under a morbidly obese woman for ten hours.
How anybody - overweight or otherwise - can see no problem with this is completely beyond me. Maybe they don't want to fork out more money for more seating, but I certainly did not pay thousands of dollars for an experience like that. |
