Just curious.

I've tried looking up the numbers on the net with no success. But my questions is: which country (Canada or the States) currently has the greatest population of English teachers in South Korea?

I'd also be interested in seeing the figures for Australian, Kiwi, Brits, and the Irish.

Help me out Real Reality!

Its got to be Canadians. I meet so many boring Canadians. Do other Americans think Canadians are a bunch of nice, but boring people? Or is it just me. (No offense to you canadians with mucho personality of course! Where are you by the way???)

Interesting topic.

I find Canadian (male) friends I have had seem very well rounded, sensible guys. Heads definately well screwed on. But kind of dull, sorry. They seem to like hanging around with each other more than mixing.

Whereas most of my American (male) friends are more fun to be with, well are kind of crazy bastards... but so am I.

My Kiwi friends fall somewhere in the middle and most of us Brit guys tend to be just as crazy (with regards to drinking and outrageous behaviour) as the American guys, or possibly even worse. American guys - don't be offended, I wouldn't want it any other way... Australian guys, yeah I'd say perhaps only one notch on the rowdy meter from the Brits and the Yanks.

Hmmm, what vague generalisations based soley on my own experience can I make about women I meet in Korea...?

Australian women, haven't met enough to form an opinion. Seem to like a drink though.

Kiwi women, no idea. Talked to a middle aged Kiwi woman though and felt just like I was talking to an English woman, very strange.

Oh, I like Irish women; on the most part they seem very good conversationists, quite warm and fun but at the same time you can tell they are smart and look after themselves well and not the type to get taken advantage of by men or anyhting like that. Darn. Gorgeous accents, lovely.

Canadian women I've known tend to be quite fun and good to talk to, but maybe a little too normal for me.

American women, hard to generalise, (though I will...) but a bit more trashy than their Canadian counterparts re drinking and sex, but that's a good thing in my book. I've had two American girlfriends (one short term) and I liked em a lot, very warm, giving and feminine once you get to know them, or get romantically involved with. Easy to get on with if you are friends. Will instantly change into kind of tough and neurotic if things dont work out though...

English girls. Don't meet many over here but the ones I have seemed kind of standoffish..., In England they are either bitchy and tough if you don't know them well but if you do know them well, very, very nice. Very either or though in my opinion... But I would love to hear what other nationalities think about them and us English guys...

erm... well, six minutes at work left....

Japanese girls, very fun and up for a good time, but you never know what's really going on. Eager to please.

Korean girls. No way I'm getting into that. Oh, ok very briefly - hot blooded once you get them in the mood but confused and confusing as hell if you ask me...

I actually think the English blokes i have met so far have been by far the craziest mofo's ever to be allowed in a classroom. I have also met a couple of Americans who were great to go out with. Canadians, well, they are kind of.... sensible.

I think somewhere on the immigration website there's a list of the nationalities of the 10000 odd E2 holders, someone posted it up a while back.

Canadians won by a mile, I think they had close to half of the E2s issued.

I'd say Canadians are the majority of english teachers here.

Basing that on user ID names with a nationality affiliations.. random flag scribblings on bars tables or walls where scribblings are encouraged.. and based on how often 'in canada' pops into most expat teacher conversations here.. canada seem to be on top.

I have seen websites with how many expat are here by nationality.. and Americans are much much much much higher.. but i'm sure thats offset by american businessmen, american military and spouses, and non-military americans employed in some capacity from the bases.

English teachers seem to have a stronger Canadian presense.. but would be interesting to see real numbers on that.
